– Head of State: Rebelo de Sousa (Social Democratic Party -PSD) elected on 24th January 2016, by direct universal suffrage for a 5-year mandate.
– Prime minister: António Costa (Socialist Party- PS) took office on 24th November, 2015. He leads a government with the support of Socialist Party (PS), Left Bloc (BE), Communist Party (PCP) and the Greens (PEV).
