Yes, The printing industry like any other industry is also undergoing Technological Advancement to cater to the ever growing need of customers. Lot of capital investment is happening in this industry to update and modernize the machineries and equipment to give quality output. Qualified manpower shortage is the main difficulty printing industry is currently facing. The present offset printing machines are technologically advanced and working with the help of computer based control system. So it needs qualified skilled operators to run the machines effectively.

2. Whether the NSQF level assigned to this Qualification is apropos to the Industry/sector HR value chains or not? Please justify

Yes, The job role Assistant Offset machine Operator is one of the basic job role in the industry. Then with required experience and with further qualification one can progress in this path. (details given in Occupation Map; 3. Whether the candidates after completion of this course could be suitably employed in the sector or not? Please elaborate with figures (if possible)

There are around 4000 offset printing units operating today in Kerala. Each of these units is having 3-4 offset printing machines and needs at least 50000 skilled operators for running offset maohines in all shifts. The annual pass out from various VHSE schools, IPT Shornur and other private institutions in Kerala comes less than 1000. There is a huge gap of demand and supply of qualified persons, as the industry is growing day by day

Due to expansion of press, purchase of new machineries, retirement of existing employees , there will be a demand of new recruits of 1500 employees every year

4. Please suggest additional domain or professional or generic skills that need to be incorporated in the Qualification for industry requirements.

The syllabus of these courses offered by other institutions cover the whole printing activities as prepress, press and post press. But our requirement is mainly skilled offset machine operators and none of this course specialize students in this aspect. There comes the importance of the course introduced by ASAP as certificate in offset machine operation. The syllabus includes theory of 60 hours covering all relevant details of Offset machine and complete process of printing in detail. The added advantage of ASAP course is that the practical training which is part of the curriculum is carried out in the printing press itself where the students are going to get future placement.
