Historical Background: John Watson established his chartered surveying business in 1887 and by 1900 was based in Cogan Chambers, Bowalley Lane, Hull. The term 'quantity' was added later and around 1920, the Carter element joined the partnership. In 2006 they became part of V B Johnson LLP .

Custodial history: Created by John Watson & Carter in the course of their business. Passed to Hull History Centre when the firm moved to smaller premises in 2012.
