TALAVADYA EXAMINATIONS Hindusthani System Syllabus : Karnataka Higher Secondary Education and Examination board is conducting Percussion Instrumental Music examination. (Talavadyakacheri Parikshe) Three Stages: 1) Junior Prathamik 2) Madhyamik 3) Vidhwath Two Question Papers: 1) Shastra Vibhag (Theory) 2) Prayogik Vibhag (Practicals) Practicals Examination: Tabla/Pakwaj Talavadhya - is pradhana - important. Candidate can select either any one of the following vocal or instrument for support (vocal) Violin, Flute, Shahnoi, Dilruba, Sarangi, Harmonium. (Instruments should be brought by candidates on their own expenses) Syllabus : From Rule 4 - 15 to be followed. TALA VADYA PRATHAMIK (JUNIOR) Syllabus : No Theory Exam Practicals: 1. Tekha - Teental, Juptal, Dhruth, Ektal, Dadra, Kherva, Chontal. 2. Tabla Bol - Na, Ta, Tita, Ga, Gi, Titakita, Katta, Didnagathruk 3. Two Kayidas Two Hayas in Teental Two Mukhadas - in Juptal and Ektal 4. To show 6 talas in hand To tell the matras orally above said 6 tals To do dugun 5. To identify ‘Sam’ in a song/verse 6. Paribhashika Shabdas meanings:- Sangeetha, Nada, Aroha, Avaroha, Sapthaka, Tala, Laya, Matra, Teka, Mukhda, Rela, Avarth, Sam, Khali, Vilambith, Madhya, Druth, Dugun, Khayanda, Changan. 7. Practice in Swaramalika, Lakshanageeth, Chotakhyal, Tumri. 4. Comparative Practice - Dilli Garana, Poorab Garana, Banaras Garana, Punjabi Garana. 5. Life history of great musical exponents 1) Nannakha 2) Anokhelal Mishra 3) Gurudev Patvardhan 4) Swamy Haridas 5) Ameer Khusru 6. Knowledge of classifications of musical instruments composition of Tabla-Pakwaj- usage 7. Knowledge of different Bols in Pakwaj Practicals ( Proyogik) 1) To make shruthi 2) Special practice - different layas, Duguna, Tiguna, Adi, Chongun 3) Teka - to all talas 4) Knowledge of sathi in Vilambith Laya Adopting different tekas for different layas for different songs 5) To use Mukhada, Tihay and Laggis to talas. Tirikita & Dirikita usage 6) Solo Tabla - for 15 minutes in Teental/Juptal 7) 4 Tekas in Teental 4 Tekas in Juptal - Tirikita/Dirikita usage 8) Tabla bol - should be told play on the instrument also 9) Music Section - 4 Lakshanageete 4 Chotakhyal (any raga) PROFICIENCY IN TALAVADYA Syllabus : Theory: 3 hrs written examination 1. Comparative study between Karnatic & Hindustani classical musical instruments Practicals: 1. Solo play - 20 min. - Teen tal, Juptal, Roopak, Adachatal, Rela, Chakradhar, Mukhuda - should come. Pakwaj students should play Drupad, Damad, Savari, Bramhatal, Gaja Jampa, Mathtal. 2. Knowledge to provide sathi 3. Teka - Play in Adi, Tigun & Viyadi layans 4. To play & show different types of Gharana 5. Music Section:- 2 Drupads 2 Damar 4 Chotakhyal 2 Bhajans to sing in any ragas. .
