News & Notes: Things that could bring new or changed TITO's, & TITO News.
1. TITO collectors held a meeting Fri 8/10 during the CC>CC national convention, lots of trading went on. 2. G2E is coming to LV, NV on 11/13-15, lots of sample TITO's usually show up, if you attend pick up some for your fellow collectors. 3. CNN ran a story in late May highlighting the wide use of slot machines on military bases overseas. These machines should have TITO's to add to our collections. 4. Carl Icahn has sold all of his NV casinos (AZ Charlie's E & W, Strat., & Aquarious) to an investment group. Expect new TITO's and possible name changes. 5. Quite a few TITO's were in sight at the CC>CC national convention in LV, NV in Aug, at the Slot Card & Room Key group off site trade session and at a number of dealer's tables. 6. Gold Dust West has opened casinos in Carson City and Elko. The Carson City site replaced Pinon Plaza and TITO's with Gold Dust West fronts and Pinon Plaza backs are reported. Expect new TITO's with Gold Dust West back from both locations. 7. The sale of Laughlin's Edgewater & Colorado Belle is being completed. Expect new TITO's and possible name changes. 8. Terrible's has bought several casinos in N. NV and has renamed Rail City in Sparks to Terrible's Rail City, new TITO's expected. They also bought all three casinos in Primm, new TITO's expected 9. The Amelia Belle Riverboat in LA opened. I expect new TITO's. 10. Isle of Capri is buying Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, MO, for a short while it was operated by the state of MO after the buyer of the other Casino Aztar properties did not want a MO casino. Possible new TITO's types may have existed during state operation and new types will again come with Isle management. 11. Stations Casinos are going private via a management buyout, possible new TITO's from many locations due to the new legal ownership. 12. Casino Queen, E. St. Louis, IL moved into a new casino barge in Aug. 07, possible new TITO's. 13. Isle of Capri has started using a new "The Isle" logo and we should expect its wide use and thus new TITO's from many Isle locations. 14. Fairgrounds Racetrack in New Orleans, LA has added slots, the 4th track in LA to do so. They are starting with 250 slots and will expand to 700 in 2008. They should have TITO's. 15. Another new casino, Shoshone Rose, has opened on the Wind River Reservation in WY, near Lander, WY with 100 slots and will be adding 50 more. This one is operated by the Eastern Shoshone tribe. The other older Wind River Reservation Casino is operated by the Northern Arapaho tribe and it will be replaced by a larger casino in Dec. 2007. With the official grand opening in Feb. 2008. 16. Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, PA opened in late Oct., it should have TITO's. 17. Harrah's has announced plans to expand and renovate the Grand Casino in Tunica MS, They then plan to rebranded the Grand to the Harrah's name in about May 2008. Expect new TITO's. 18. A new Desert Diamond Casino has opened near the airport in Tucson, AZ. It is replacing the old one in the hard tent. Did the TITO's change? 19. The Gold Spike in downtown LV has been sold, might get TITO's under the new owner? Its logo might come off the Plaza and LV Club TITO's? 20. Resorts has completed the sale of their East Chicago, IN casino to Ameristar, expect new TITO's. 21. The re-branding of Caesars, IN still appears to be in the works, the name will change to Horseshoe. No time frame stated as yet. 22. A new casino, the River Walk Project, is coming soon the Vicksburg, MS, expect TITO's. 23. Global Casinos has purchased the Doc Holiday Casino in Central City, CO, they also own the Bull Durham Casino in Black Hawk. At present as far as I know neither use TITO's but ownership change might bring in TITO's. 24. MGM Detroit opened their new permanent casino in Oct. did the TITO's change? 25. Pinnacle Gaming hopes to open their new St Louis, MO casino, Lumiere Place on the riverfront by year end. Expect TITO's.
Special Note: In Jan. 2008 I hope to start on Ver 2 of the TITO catalog, most likely it will come out on CDROM, I hope to publish it in May 2008 just before the 2008 CC>CC National Convention. I expect it will cover about 2000 different TITO's. As I work on Ver. 2 I will be asking my fellow TITO collectors to help edit the updated pages in early 2008. I estimate 2 more Newsletters #15 & #16 will come out prior to Ver. 2
