Wednesday, June 12: LAND OF INSPIRATION  Visit the Talmudic city of Zippori where Rabbi Yehudah HaNasi compiled the Mishnah 1,800 years ago. Explore the Roman theater, ancient synagogue and some of the most beautiful mosaics of the Middle East, considering the complex relationship between Jewish and Pagan Roman civilization.  : Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and meet a local Israeli Palestinian Christian to learn about the complex identity issues they are facing as an Arab minority living among the Jewish majority in Israel and as a Christian minority living amongst the Muslim majority in Nazareth.

Thursday, June 13 MYSTICS AND MOUNTAINS . Visit the mystical city of Tzfat to explore itse alleyways and synagogues and trace the development of Kabbalah in the 16th Century. Meet a Kabbalistic artist Abraham Lowenthal in his studio and see how he synthesizes Jewish mysticism and art. . Cross the B’not Ya’akov bridge to ascend the and visit the trenches and bunkers at Mitzpeh Gadot, overlooking the kibbutzim below. Learn about the role of the Golan in the Six Day War of 1967. . Continue to Tel Saki for a briefing on the situation along the Syrian border and to gain an appreciation of the strategic significance of the Golan Heights. . Meet soldiers in action; exchange gifts and try to comprehend what it is like putting the burden of Israel's security on the shoulders of teenagers.  Stop at Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu to learn about how the idealistic pioneers of the kibbutz and how its Bio Bee company are leading “green” organic farming in Israel and around the world.  Travel to via the Jordan River Valley and see the borders between Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority . Imagine what it would have been like to visit the Second Temple 2,000 years ago at the Southern Wall Excavations . Enjoy lunch on your own and informal touring in the Jewish Quarter . Visit Jerusalem’s pioneering social service project, Yad LaKashish (Lifeline for the Elderly), which empowers and supports hundreds of elderly disabled Jerusalem residents. Experience the creative environment of the workshops and visit the crafts gift shop. . Learn and remember at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial including visits to the Historical Museum, the Children’s Memorial and the Avenue of the Righteous of the Nations. . Monday, June 17: THE NEGEV  Visit the famed Chagall Windows at Hadassah Hosptial in the Ein Kerem neighborhood.  Travel to Kiryat Gat to meet the inspiring Rabbi Sharon Shalom, an Ethiopian rabbi of an Ashkenazi synagogue of Holocaust Survivors and immigrants from the FSU.  Box lunch today.  Visit Tel Be’er Sheva, a UNESCO World Culture Site to view its ancient water system and understand the role of the site in the history of the Biblical patriarchs and matriarchs.  Bat Midbar: The new Bedouin Woman – a fascinating journey into the world of the Bedouin women, who tread between preserving tradition and integrating into the modern age. Get to know women who were integrated into the family economic circle, without breaking the norms of the culture, and educated, assertive young women, as we learn about their herbal medical and cosmetic treatments industry.
