FORESTVILLE EAGLES BASKETBALL CLUB Scoreboard CLUB NEWS CLUB TALK...... Welcome to the March edition of the newsletter, March is truly a busy and energy filled month inside and out of Basketball, there is so much happening on and off the court so please enjoy the March edition. The summer season is over halfway through already and the start of the NBL1 season is coming up quickly with the first games on April 10th. With this in mind, we have our 2 NBL1 coaches featured as our Club Profiles this month. We are sure you will enjoy the dedication they have for the club and their players and support staff. A huge thanks to all the volunteers who have helped out with the barbeques during the Country Carnival over the recent weekends. We really appreciate their time and efforts. Another easy way to help out the club is to continue to support our generous sponsors by taking advantage of our Members specials. Our sponsors together with our fundraising efforts all help the club keep our playing fees down. A reminder for the upcoming Scoreboard course!! He represented South Australia numerous times and was a member of our Premier League Men's Team from 1980. He then moved interstate to begin his NBL and SEABL career which spanned over 10 years before returning to Adelaide permanently with his family. He continued to play for our Premier League Men's team until 2002. Upon his return to Adelaide, Andy transitioned into coaching firstly with our Premier League Women's team and then moving to our Men's team from 2003 upon his retirement from playing. Our club has enjoyed great success since Andy became Head Coach in 2004 with 5 Premierships. One thing Andy says he is most proud of is being a part of a club that values its players and supporters. As a club, we are very fortunate to have such a loyal and passionate individual continue to lead our Men's Program and we look forward to even more success whilst Andy is in charge. His coaching career started back here in Adelaide in 1981 with U/14 Boys at Noarlunga City Tigers. He went on to coach teams to the Australian Junior Championships 12 times coming away with 3 national titles. From there he moved up to coaching our national junior teams at the U20 Womens and Mens levels. He coached at 5 World Championships and brought home a Gold Medal in 2017. Simon then went on to coach at the WNBL level for over 10 years from 2008. He has also won 3 NBL1 Championships with both mens and womens teams in Canberra and Bendigo during that time. Simon joined us from Bendigo Spirit's WNBL program in 2020. Simon is very passionate about developing local junior talent and it is certainly our privilege to have such an amazing and experienced coach at the helm of our Women's program. Person you would most like to meet: Ben Hogan. Favourite Movie: The American President. Best concert you have ever been to: U2 with my wife Fiona in the 80’s. Everyone was up and dancing before U2 came on! Motto you live by: Treat people how you want to be treated and show integrity. Atrina is really coming into her own showing her leadership on court and proving to be a dominate player in her age group. But best of all she is such a lovely young lady and a great coachable athlete. COACH OF THE MONTH: JESSIE GIARETTO U14 GIRLS DIV 2 Jessie has settled in well to her role as Under 14 Div 2 Girls Coach. She has utilised her excellent knowledge and skill base to enhance the girls development and has been able to interact well with both players and parents. Take It Away (promotional film) The filming of the promotional video for 'Take It Away' took place at EMI's Elstree Studios in Boreham Wood and was directed by John MacKenzie. Six hundred members of the Wings Fun Club were invited along as a live audience to the filming, which took place on Wednesday 23 June 1982. The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'.
