For a small city, Cotati has an impressive number of parks with varied recreation offerings for all ages. Chief among them is La Plaza Park in the heart of town, with a bandstand, picnic tables, play equipment and modern restrooms. Shaded by large trees, it is a popular gathering place for small groups or informal meals, as well as city festivals. La Plaza Park is also one of Cotati's claims to fame: it has been registered as California Historical Landmark No. 879 because of its unique hexagonal shape. La Plaza Park
