Report of the Blood Donation Camp Organized by the NSS Unit, Ramkrishna Mahato Government Engineering College (Erstwhile, Purulia Government Engineering College, Estd. 2016) and in REPORT OF THE collaboration with the BLOOD Doctors of Deben Mahato Sadar Hospital, Purulia DONATION Held on CAMP 21st November 2019 With a brief introduction Acknowledgement The NSS Unit of RKMGEC owes much debt to the Office of the Principal and the Registrar’s Office for their relentless assistance and to the Principal of RKMGEC in particular, who had constantly encouraged us and gave his valuable insights in organizing the Blood Donation Camp as the maiden activity of the NSS Unit. The NSS Unit feels obliged to acknowledge the Vendors who supplies regular commodities to the Hostels of RKMGEC for supporting and sponsoring the whole event of BDC with their splendid gesture of generosity. The NSS Unit of RKMGEC also owes much to the senior faculties for their constant support and guidance and to the faculty members of the whole RKMGEC for their constant cheer and encouragement. And lastly, the beloved students, who have been the central part of all these activities, and their voluntary involvement either through their organizing skill or by active participation into the BDC, which made it a grand success really demands our indebtedness to them. Without these the event could not have been successful in its maiden endeavour, is in fact beyond any reservation. 1 Prof. Bibek Chakrabarti Principal, RKMGEC Mr. Santigopal Maity, Asst. The National Service Scheme (henceforth the NSS) was first introduced and conceptualised in the activities of the Ramkrishna Mahato Government Engineering College, Purulia (henceforth RKMGEC) from the academic session 2018 – 19, followed by a T.C. meeting held on 19.09.2018 under the leadership of Mr. Debabrata Ray, Asst. Even though the formation of the NSS unit in RKMGEC was done formally, the activities could not have been made realized until the academic session 2019 – 20, due to many unavoidable circumstances, one of which is, primarily a great concern of the necessary funds to make it possible. The NSS Unit in RKMGEC was revamped for the academic session 2019 – 20 in a T.C. meeting held on 08.06.2019, where the following team was selected for it to function more coherently under the leadership of Mr. Santigopal Maity, Asst. Prof. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, (henceforth ECE) as its first ever Programme Officer , and Mr. Debabrata Ray, Asst. Prof. of Economics, Dept. of BSH as its Programme Coordinator, which made sure the representation of all departments in the general activities of the NSS wing – Members of the Sl No. Designation Department Committee 1 Mr. Dababrata Ray Assistant Professor Basic Science and Humanities 2 Dr. Jayanta Chandra Associate Professor Electrical Engineering 3 Mr. Sourav Hajra Assistant Professor Civil Engineering 4 Mr. Surajit Manna Assistant Professor Computer Science and Engineering 4 5 Dr. Bikash Choudhury Assistant Professor Computer Science and Engineering 6 Mr. Pabitra Roy Assistant Professor Computer Science and Engineering Electronics and Communication 7 Mr. Santigopal Maity Assistant Professor Engineering 8 Mr. Md. The notice for enrolling names for registration in NSS Unit of RKMGEC was rolled on 10.11.2019 (mostly for the 2nd and the 3rd year students) and an overwhelming response was received from the students of RKMGEC, across all the departments. The department wise enrolled students’ summary is as follows – Sl No. Department No. of Students 1 CE 48 2 CSE 20 3 EE 40 4 ECE 73 5 ME 43 TOTAL 224 ** see Annex # 1 for the enrolled students The NSS Unit RKMGEC started its maiden activity by organizing a Blood Donation Camp (henceforth BDC) on 21st November, 2019, with the help of the member students of the NSS Unit and in collaboration with the Doctors of the Deben Mahato Sadar Hospital, Purulia, second to the BDC organized independently by the dept. of EE, earlier in the month of July – August 2019. The Banner of the Blood Donation Camp in English The Banner of the Blood Donation Camp in Bengali 5 Report of the BDC held on 21.11.2019 The organization of a BDC under the aegis of the NSS Unit of RKMGEC was conceptualized in an NSS Committee meeting held on 14.11.2019, followed by a request received from the doctors of the Deben Mahato Sadar Hospital, Purulia at the advent of an ongoing blood supply crisis in the Purulia Blood Bank. The NSS Unit of RKMGEC, found this opportunity as a privilege to open its chapter into its journey ahead in service to the Nation, amidst its major regular academic activities, as envisaged into the Motto of NSS, “"Not Me But You", which reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. Keeping the grand philosophy of the NSS upfront, in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. The tagline for the BDC was, “You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives, just donate blood.” To this, a BDC organising committee was initiated under the guidance of the NSS Unit, comprising 10 volunteers, of which 8 are chosen from among the registered students and 2 were from the Office of the Registrar, RKMGEC. The team of volunteers is in the following table – List of volunteers of Blood Donation Camp Sl.
