Postdoctoral position in Medical Genomics – University of Burgundy, ,

The GAD research team (University of Burgundy, Dijon, France) is seeking a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in human genetics, with a particular interest in genomics applied to rare diseases. The post-holder will join an Excellence Research Center (TRANSLAD, http://www.translad.org/) dedicated to the development of health-care, research and teaching in the field of rare genetic diseases and developmental anomalies. As a member of the GAD research team, his/her role will involve working closely with bioinformaticians, human geneticists and clinicians to decipher the genetic bases of rare pediatric conditions using whole-genome, exome and other NGS-based targeted sequencing experiments. He/she may also participate in the supervision of technicians and graduate students, as well as grant writing.

The GAD research team, located in a brand-new research building, is specialized in the genetics of a wide spectrum of rare genetic conditions and developmental abnormalities (see http://www.gad-bfc.org/ for details). The team works in close collaboration with the genetic clinic of Dijon University Hospital, which coordinates the French “Rare Disease Healthcare Pathway” for developmental anomalies and malformations (AnDDI-Rare); and with the University of Burgundy computing cluster for bioinformatic analyses (CCuB, https://haydn2005.u- bourgogne.fr/dsi-ccub/).

Dijon is an important regional city located in the heartland of Burgundy, one of the richest regions in France from an historical and cultural point of view. The city is well connected to major cities in France (, Lille, Strasbourg, , Marseille, Nice) and Switzerland (Zürich, Basel, Lausanne, Bern).

Job requirements:  PhD in human genetics, statistical genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or related field.  Strong background and publication record in human genetics.  Demonstrated experience in NGS applied to identification of disease-causing genes.  French speaking required and strong English skills.  Experience of working in Linux environment and programming skills (Python, R, Perl and/or Java) are an asset.

Salary: based upon experience. Desired start date: immediately.
