CM inaugurates new buildings of Jengraimukh and Dakhin Majuli police stations

Dispur, September 09: Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed building of Jengraimukh Police Station under Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) scheme in Majuli district today. The Chief Minister also dedicated the new building of Dakhin Majuli Police Station to the people of the district through a virtual platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that since the time of formation of the present Assam government in 2016, it has been working unwaveringly to build a stronger and prosperous Assam by protecting and upholding the rights and interests of all large and small communities of the State. The government has recently adopted a bill in the floor of Assam Legislative Assembly to preserve the historical monuments scattered across the State, he said adding that steps such as 'Bhasa Gaurav Achoni', new education policy, setting up of new directorate for Bodo and other ethnic languages etc. have been taken to protect the art and culture, language and traditions of all indigenous communities.

Stating that with the progress of science and technology, crimes have assumed new dimension, the Chief Minister advocated the need for police to be smart. He said that the State government has taken up MOITRI scheme not just to upgrade infrastructure but also to boost police-public relationship and making the police more efficient in solving modern day crimes. The Chief Minister also lauded the role played by Assam police in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic situation and flood & erosion in the State.

Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Dr. Ranoj Pegu, ADGP Dr. L R Bishnoi also spoke on the occasion. While officer in charge of Jengraimukh Police Station Indreswari Pegu delivered the welcome speech, the inaugural function was also attended by MLA Bimal Bora, DIG G V Shivaprasad, DC Bikram Kairi, SP Aparna Natrajan, social worker Loknath Kutum, officials of district civil and police administration and several other dignitaries as well as people of Jengraimukh. Earlier, in the morning today, Chief Minister Sonowal visited Kamalabari Ferry Ghat and dedicated a speed boat to the service of Assam Police to facilitate river patrolling to boost law and order at the river island.
