I am delighted to present you with our 2013 Caley Cruisers brochure. I do hope you enjoy browsing through it! It’s been another interesting 12 months. Despite the rather wet weather experienced in the south of England during 2012, by contrast it was amazing that the west coast of Scotland experienced drought conditions at the same time – last summer was the lowest it has been for over 20 years! Therefore many of our visitors reported having glorious weather for their adventures in the Glen and there were lots of happy, smiling faces at the end of their holidays, which of course we love to see. Check out our Facebook pages and the customer reviews on our website where many customers have kindly shared their pictures and feedback with us.

In the booking office we installed a new reservation system so we’re delighted to now be able to offer you online availability checks and accept card payments via our website. It’s a great way to find out when your favourite boat is free and be able to make payments towards your holiday any time at your convenience. Remember our early booking offer – if you make a booking for 2014 and book before the end of October 2013, you will receive the 2013 hire charge*. Many of our boats (such as Highland Monarch, Balmoral, Isle of Skye and especially Strathspey) do book up more than 12 months in advance; therefore, we do recommend you book these as early as you can. For more details about this and our occasional late availability special deals keep an eye on our website.

The weather during the maintenance season was a bit kinder for our team last winter. For the 2 previous years, work had to be completed outside in sub-zero conditions (some days it didn’t get above -12 degrees!). This caused the canal to freeze over with up to 6 inches of ice on it - that made life very difficult for craning boats out of the water. However, last year it was significantly milder, with many days very pleasant and spring like – at the end of March it was a balmy 24 degrees which made final prep works on the fleet much more enjoyable. Hopefully it’s another mild winter this year for the guys.

So, on behalf of our team here at Caley Cruisers, we look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends for your holiday with us on Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal. We’re sure you’ll have a great time on board which ever vessel you choose and that it will be the perfect accommodation to enjoy your adventure in the Great Glen.

20 21 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Collision damage waiver Payment of the non-refundable Collison Damage Waiver is applicable for all bookings. This provides you with fully comprehensive “the fastest way to slow down...” cover in the event of accidental loss or damage to your boat or its equipment. It also provides third party cover just in case for example Steve Hill you accidently cause damage to another vessel, jetty etc or cause injury to a third party. It does not cover any damage caused by the deliberate or negligent act or omission of you or any member of your party (including where the person concerned is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any similar substance) or any failure by you to comply with our safety instructions or booking conditions. In this case we reserve the right to make a charge to cover the loss or damage.

Fuel deposit Depending on the class of vessel booked, the Fuel Deposit will be £200 or £250. All of our vessels carry approximately 550 litres of diesel, which is enough for about 2-3 weeks cruising. The Fuel Deposit that you pay covers more than the average week’s cruise. At the end of your holiday we will refuel your vessel and any extra charge or refund should be settled prior to your departure. You will be charged the fuel cost applicable at the time of your cruise. Please do not hesitate to contact our office should you have any queries regarding this matter. We will be happy to provide details on fuel consumption and averages for whichever vessel you are interested in.

Short Breaks and 10/11 NIGHT Holidays Most vessels (as indicated on the boat pages) can be booked for short breaks and 10/11 night holidays. The weekend short breaks run from Friday 12:00 – 2pm until Monday 8:30am (3 nights) and the mid-week short breaks run from Monday 12:00 – 2pm until Friday 8:30am (4 nights). The 10-night breaks start on a Friday (12:00 – 2pm) and the 11-night breaks start on a Monday (12:00 – 2pm).

Pick-up and Return Time for all Vessels The boat handover time is usually between 1pm and 2pm. However, we do commence our Safety Training from 12noon, therefore it is important you arrive as close to midday as possible. Should you be arriving after 2.00pm it is important that the boatyard is advised in advance. All boats should be returned and vacated by 8.30am on the day of departure. Many visitors return to our boatyard the prior evening to finalise the fuel account and visit Inverness.

GROUP BOOKINGS Please note that we cannot accept bookings for Stag and Hen parties. For certain groups, we reserve the right to apply an additional security deposit. Please see condition 12 on page 23 (T&C of Hire) for further information. If you have any questions about group bookings then please do not hesitate to contact us.
