won this award with the last time dating back to season 2013–14. Stephen now in his 19th season as an SSCUA member had a strong summer on field which saw him appointed of the YearStephen Blomfield to one of the First Grade Qualifying Finals before the season was sadly cut short with the advent of the Corona Simon Dodwell 2018–19 Virus issue. Stephen is one of the Simon Dodwell 2017–18 Association's founding members having started with the SSCUA in its inaugural Anthony Raymond 2016–17 2001–02 season. In that time he has Anthony Raymond 2015–16 umpired a record 488 matches in Shires Cricket and will next season be looking Anthony Raymond 2014–15 to reach the 500 game milestone. Stephen Blomfield 2013–14 Stephen's captains’ marks tallied up to an average score of 91.8 out of 100 with the overall Association average mark being 78.2 out of 100. At season’s end Stephen's Stephen Blomfield 2012–13 mark of 91.8 has narrowly beaten his nearest rival who finished the season on 91.6 Darren Goodger 2011–12 out of 100, with third place tallying 91.4 out of 100. Brett Tribolet 2010–11 Congratulations to Stephen on winning his fourth umpire of the year award. The winner is the member with the highest season average mark from those assessments. 4 Ian has just completed his third full season with the SSCUA. Besides his contribution to Masters and Classics cricket his performances on field was rewarded in Shires Round 5 where Ian was elevated to his debut in Shires First Grade. From there he had an excellent season and was potentially in line for an appointment to one of the six Shires Grand Finals, however, the sudden truncation of the season with two weeks to go due to the Corona Virus cut short any potential for officiating one of those Grand Finals. No doubt Ian will be in contention again next season. In Masters and Classics Cricket Ian stood in a total of six matches accruing a total of 12 captains’ assessments while scoring a very high mark of 90.6 out of 100. Captains commented that Ian understood the game and the needs of the players, they say he reads match situations well while not wanting to get too involved. Well done Ian on topping the averages within the Masters and Classics cricket community. Your contribution to these competitions is greatly appreciated by those who play these mature aged competitions. Ross joined the SSCUA in August 2013 and has just completed his seventh season with the Association. A regular contributor to both Saturday and Sunday cricket Ross has during the last Most Improved seven seasons officiated a total of 79 UMPIRE OF THE YEARRoss Scott Shires matches as well as an additional 25 matches in the Masters and Classics Michael Conway 2018–19 competition. Michael Dunn 2017–18 This season Ross received some good assessments from team captains seeing Les Chegwidden 2016–17 his season assessment average mark in Andrew Steindler 2015–16 season 2019–20 improve by 16.71%. Another member had a slightly higher Ivan Holland 2014–15 percentage improvement but that Stephen Clements 2013–14 person was disqualified from this award as one of the other criteria to win is that you must attend at least one Association Kim Hunter 2012–13 meeting during the season. Congratulations to Ross on winning this award and we hope to see Ross back next season to improve even further. Ross Scott is the winner of Maqsood Khan the 2019–20 Most Improved Vin Sharkey 2018–19 Umpire of the Year. Ian Pryde 2017–18 Tim Overland 2016–17 Maqsood Khan is the winner of Clay Finnemore 2015–16 the 2019–20 Rookie Umpire of Daniel Burton 2014–15 the Year. Anthony Raymond 2013–14 Maqsood joined the Association in August 2019 after having played for Glen Stubbings 2012–13 many seasons at Auburn Cricket Club. Ian Tabrett 2011–12 He was enthusiastic about continuing in the game of cricket acknowledging that Aaron Vella 2010–11 his playing days were mostly behind him and was keen to start up his umpiring Scott Calvert 2009–10 career. 5 Season 2019–20 saw Maqsood umpire a total of eight matches in Shires cricket all being in Third or Fourth Grade and he scored a solid captains assessment mark across the eight matches he officiated. Family commitments precluded Maqsood from umpiring all 13 rounds but I feel confident that with the experience he gained this season that he will be looking to stand in more games next summer to try and climb the ranks. According to peer assessments Maqsood showed a good aptitude for umpiring, has a solid understanding of the game and performed well when assessed by his more experienced peers. We look forward to Maqsood’s ongoing participation next season. With continued improvement and experience gained I feel confident that he could quickly find himself in Second Grade and from there it is up Maqsood to strive to get even better. Well done Maqsood on your first season of umpiring. May this be the start of many more successful seasons to come. Tantallon Oval. January 11, 2020 Spencer Harrison – 300 Games
