Two Concert Presentations at Kay Meek Centre

KENNY BARRON a night of solo piano June 25 Kay Meek Centre at 7:30pm $40 All In Called “the most lyrical piano player of our time” by Jazz Weekly, Kenny Barron cut his teeth in the 1960s with Dizzy Gillespie’s band, and went on to work with Yusef Lateef, Stan Getz, Charlie Haden, John Scofield, and other masters of jazz. The nine-time GRAMMY nominee and American Jazz Hall of Fame member is not just an astute interpreter of works by Monk, Ellington, Charlie Parker, and more: Barron’s excellent original compositions showcase his wide-ranging ideas as much as his elegant, virtuosic playing. With “impeccable technique and lyrical taste, [Barron] is an influential master of post-bop jazz” (All Music).
