Friday, April 1st “Quality Radiography in the Busy Practice” and “ Kid’s Stuff” o Presenter: Dr. Matthew Richardson 12:00pm - 6:00pm Outline: Quality Radiography in the Busy Chiropractic Practice: This 4 hour lecture will focus on things you’ve forgotten, and things you need to learn, regarding accomplishing and interpreting quality radiographic examinations in a busy chiropractic practice. Focus will be given to discussion on radiation safety and equipment, accomplishing high-quality complete radiographic studies of the spine and extremities, and troubleshooting radiographs – to include both film-based and digital images. Case-based learning opportunities will be employed during the lecture to test your diagnostic skillset. Impact of on clinical management will be gone over. Kid’s Stuff - This 2 hour lecture will focus on developing a working understanding of diagnostic imaging applications in pediatric patients presenting to chiropractic offices. Case-based learning opportunities will be presented with conventional radiographic examinations and relevant clinical histories. Participants will work collaboratively with the presenter to interpret the radiographs, with emphasis placed on discerning relevant findings from those that are less important and from diagnostic imaging pitfalls. Following review of x-ray examinations, specialized imaging follow-up for each case will be presented. About Matthew Richardson, DC, DACBR Dr. Richardson serves as Director of Clinical Radiology at the Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida Campus, and provides diagnostic imaging interpretation services to healthcare providers through Palmer Imaging Consultation Services. He completed his B.S. at Murray State University in 2001, and Doctor of Chiropractic training at Palmer Davenport Campus in 2006. Dr. Richardson became a board certified chiropractic radiologist (Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology – DACBR) in 2010. He is published in peer reviewed literature, and contributed to the radiology textbooks Skeletal Imaging: Atlas of the Spine and Extremities, 2nd Edition, and Clinical Imaging with Skeletal, Chest, and Abdomen Pattern Differentials, 3rd Edition.

"Adjusting Children - Tapping Into This Natural Resource" o Presenter: Dr. Jennifer Murphy 12:00pm - 6:00pm Outline: Not sure how to care for the tiniest of patients? Need a refresher course? Want to be responsible for improving the next generation? The traditional medical model is failing our children and we have the power to unsure a healthier future for generations to come. This class will teach you age by age how these patients think, what issues they are dealing with and how to best tap into their innate with the gift of chiropractic care. Learn hands on adjusting techniques that you can take back to work Monday morning. Recommend bringing a doll to practice with and please feel free to bring your children to the workshop.

About Jennifer Murphy, DC Dr. Murphy is a 1995 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Following a brief internship, Dr. Murphy started Pink Hill Chiropractic on August 19th, 1996. In 2002, Dr. Murphy received her Pediatric Diplomate from Palmer College and the International Chiropractic Association's Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics by following three years of advanced pediatric and maternity education. She continues to advance pediatric chiropractic by publishing articles in various journal publications and teaching other chiropractors across the country. Dr. Jennifer Murphy is a member of the ICA Pediatric Council, American Chiropractic Association, ACA-Pediatric Association, Christian Chiropractic Association, and the North Carolina Chiropractic Association. In 2011, Dr. Murphy was named Lenoir County's top 20 under 40 for achievement in professional and personal activities.

He received his Diplomate in Chiropractic Orthopedics in 1986. Since 1982, Dan Murphy has served as part-time undergraduate faculty at Life Chiropractic College West, where he is currently teaching classes to seniors in the management of spinal disorders. Dan Murphy is a contributing author to the books Motor Vehicle Collision Injuries, Pediatric Chiropractic, and Motor Vehicle Collision Injuries, 2nd edition. Since 1991, Dan Murphy has written a quarterly column in the American Journal of Clinical Chiropractic, with more than 68 columns appearing to date. Three times, Dr. Murphy was awarded the Post-Graduate Educator of the Year award, given by the International Chiropractic Association and in 2003; he was awarded Chiropractor of the Year by Chiropractic Biophysics. Dan Murphy has been the vice president of the International Chiropractic Association since 2003.

"The Biomechanics and Neurology of the Cervical Spine" o Presenter: Dr. Philip Arnone 8:00am - 12:00pm Outline: This seminar will provide the practitioner with an overview of cervical biomechanics and standardization of measurement in the cervical spine. The program will include an outline of the current understanding of cervical neurology and science and the relevance of understanding cervical biomechanics. The goals of this presentation will include: Defining how the physics of force, resistance and fulcrums affect movement in the cervical spine in response to an adjustment; explaining how understanding upper cervical biomechanics can improve spinal correction regardless of the technique; provide insight to incorporate biomechanical knowledge and improved measurement into the practitioner’s current model of practice to improve patient outcome. 2016 Spring Conference Speakers Information April 1 - 3, 2016

About Philip Arnone, DC, DABCI Dr. Arnone is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been practicing the NUCCA upper cervical technique for 26 years. He is one of only 300 NUCCA practitioners in the country and accomplished in many upper cervical and full spine techniques. Among his early mentors were the developer of the NUCCA technique, Dr. Ralf Gregory. Dr. Arnone has additional training in the Kale technique (Now Upper Cervical Specific Technique) by Dr. Michael Kale, the Blair technique and Atlas Orthogonal technique. Dr. Arnone has pioneered a system of incorporating Upper Cervical techniques with full spine care and has mentored and taught upper cervical biomechanics to doctors and students from Sherman Chiropractic College, Life Chiropractic College and Palmer Chiropractic College. Dr. Arnone is a Board Certified Chiropractic Internist. He has served as President for the Council on Diagnosis and Internal Disorders and served on the American Board of Chiropractic Specialties. He currently serves as the NC Delegate for the American Chiropractic Association and is Chair of the ACA Professional Development Committee.

"Pierce Results System (PRS)" o Presenter: Dr. Stephen Saleeby 2:30pm - 5:30pm Outline: This enlightening presentation will introduce the Pierce Results System (PRS) as it incorporates the science of chiropractic pertaining to the objective analysis, correction and monitoring of the utilizing the latest technological developments such as digital radiography, digital video- fluoroscopy, thermography and computerized force recording and analysis system. A portion of the lecture will be dedicated to the history of the research and development by Dr. Walter V. Pierce, Sr. the pioneer and developer of PRS. There will also be a technique demonstration with the application of instrument adjusting versus manual adjusting as it relates to PRS. Additionally PRS protocols will be reviewed from A-Z utilizing case studies.

About Stephen Saleeby, DC Dr. Saleeby is a Raleigh native and has been a practicing Chiropractor since 1985. He is married to the former Sheri Logan, and has two children, a son and a daughter. He completed his undergraduate studies as NC State University in 1981 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In 1984 he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic; completing his five and one half year program in four years. Saleeby Chiropractic was established in June of 1985. Dr. Saleeby was president of the Wake County Chiropractic Society in 1988, 1989, and 1996. He is a loyal member of the North Carolina Chiropractic Association, Wake County Chiropractic Society and the ACA. In 1992, he became a certified contributor to Research and Development of Computerized Force Recording and Analysis Adjusting Instruments. Dr. Saleeby remains actively involved in this program, and receives regular updates on the latest developments in chiropractic treatment and technology. In 1993, he completed a post-graduate program for the use and interpretation of Videofluoroscopy. "Chiropractic Treatment of Soft Tissue Structure Utilizing Manual and Instrument Assisted Techniques" o Presenter: Dr. Michael Krasnov 8:00am - 12:00pm Outline: This course will review methods of soft tissue treatment that can be easily utilized in a chiropractic practice. We will first review the characteristics of soft tissue structures and discuss the nature of soft tissue injuries. We will then discuss the various manual methods of soft tissue treatment that can easily be incorporated into a chiropractic practice. Finally there will be demonstrations and discussion regarding how to utilize these treatments for various spinal and extremity conditions commonly seen in a chiropractic office, as well as how these soft tissue treatments interface with chiropractic adjustments, and rehabilitative protocols. About Michael Krasnov, DC Dr. Michael Krasnov has been a chiropractor for 28 years, the last 26 of which have been in Durham NC. His practice has an emphasis on sports chiropractic. He has been teaching post-doctoral seminars for 24 years. Dr. Krasnov has served as the team chiropractor for the 1996 US Olympic Track and Field team, as well as the athletic departments of NC State University and Duke University. His presentations typically combine a discussion of the evidence presented in the literature as well as practical advice on applications you can begin implementing on Monday morning.
