USC POSTGAME NOTES USC vs. Colorado L.A. Memorial Coliseum – Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016

 With the 21-17 win for USC, the Trojans improved to 3-3 (2-2) and Colorado fell to 4-2 (2-1)  USC improved to 11-0 all-time against Colorado  Fr. QB Sam Darnold finished 25-for-37 for a career-high 358 yards. He has now thrown multiple TD passes in three games this year and has now thrown for 300+ yards in back-to-back games.  Jr. CB-WR-KOR Adoree’ Jackson ‘s 38-yard kickoff return today gives him 1,723 career kickoff return yards (on 64 returns), tying for USC’s all-time lead with Curtis Conway (on 73 returns).  Jackson finished today with 88 all-purpose yards  Jackson’s highlight-reel third-quarter was his second this year, third of his career.  Sr. TB Justin Davis finished with 83 yards on 13 carries. He moved into 14th on USC’s career rushing chart at 2,325, passing Javorius Allen’s career total of 2,306.  Jr. WR JuJu Smith-Schuster’s had 5 catches for 113 yards. It was his second consecutive game of 100 or more yards receiving and the 10th of his career. He now has 2,611 career receiving yards, also 10th all-time by a Trojan.  So. TE Tyler Petite’s second-quarter 11-yard TD catch and 7-yard fourth-quarter TD catch are his first two scoring receptions this year, giving him three for his career.  Fr. TE Daniel Imatorbhebhe entered today with one reception. He had back-to-back receptions on USC’s first scoring drive, including his first career TD, a 32-yard catch.  USC had two tight ends catch TD passes in the same game (Petite and Imatorbhebhe) for the first time since Randall Telfer and Xavier Grimble vs. Syracuse in 2011. (Telfer and Rhett Ellison both caught TD passes later that year vs. UCLA, but Ellison played all of 2011 as a fullback after spending his previous years as a Trojan as a ).  Jr. WR Steven Mitchell Jr.’s six receptions were a season-high. His high is seven as a sophomore.  So. WR Deontay Burnett finished with 5 catches, the fifth time he’s had three or more this season.  Sr. WR Darreus Rogers’ 76 receiving yards was his second-most of his career, behind his 82 vs. Utah State earlier this year.  Jr. LB Uchenna Nwosu led USC with a career-high 10 tackles, including a sack and a for a loss. He also had two pass deflections.  USC held its opponent scoreless in the first quarter for the third time in six games and has allowed only 20 points in the first quarter this year. USC held its opponent scoreless in the first half for the second time this year (Utah State).  USC held Colorado to 371 total yards. The Buffaloes came into the game averaging 531.2 yards per game (the ninth most in the country) and eclipsing 500 yards four times.  USC held Colorado to 96 rushing yards. Colorado came into the game averaging 218.6 yards per game.  USC held Colorado to a season-low 17 points. The Buffaloes came into the game averaging 43.2 points per game.  Dating back to last season, USC has won six consecutive home games, its longest home winning streak since winning 12- straight from Oct. 13, 2007 to Oct. 24, 2009.  USC had a season-high 539 total net yards, its second consecutive week with 500-plus yards (523 vs. ASU last week). USC had three games all last season of over 500 yards.
