Slobodanka Jovanović

Dr. Slobodanka Jovanović is a member of the Board of Directors - Research Development Director and Chair of the Economics institute’s Scientific Council.

She has been employed at the Economics Institute since December 2008 as a scientific advisor. Her field of expertise comprises: technology management, protection and transfer of intellectual property, pharmaceutics.

Slobodanka Jovanović was born on July 12, 1948 in Prizren. She finished the First and graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of , at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Petrochemicals course. She enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, in 1972, which she completed in 1979 with the master's thesis on "The correlation between the structure and reactivity of 5- substituted derivatives of 8-hydroxyquinoline''. At the Faculty’s proposal, her doctoral thesis was awarded by the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce for the school year 1985/1986, and in 2003 Slobodanka Jovanović was awarded by the Association of Inventors of and Montenegro a plaque and a gold medal Tesla/Pupin as the inventor of the year.

In October 1991, at the proposal of the Federal Patent Office, (at the time she was employed in Galenika), she underwent training on the protection of industrial property, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Budapest, and in April 1992 she attended the course on licensing and contracting at the Centre for Professional Development in Amsterdam. Since May 1972 Slobodanka Jovanović was employed at the pharmaceutical and chemical industry "Galenika" in research and development activities, first as a laboratory associate, then as Head of semi-propulsion research, project manager, Director of the Institute, and Head of Information and Documentation System. From February 2004 to mid-2002 she was employed at the Federal Patent Office, i.e. at the Federal Office for Intellectual Property as a senior advisor on patent policy and advisor to General Manager. In mid-2002 she returned to "Galenika" as an advisor to Director of the Institute in order to prepare documents for the arbitration proceedings "Galenika"/ICN Pharmaceuticals, and was appointed General Manager of the Institute for Research and Development until October 2006, and a coordinator for research and development.

She obtained academic titles at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade: research fellow in 1985, research associate in 1988, senior research associate in 1997 and scientific advisor in 2007. Dr. Slobodanka Jovanović has prepared the course "Protection and Technology Transfer - Technology Management" and has implemented parts of this course within undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade, the Faculty of Technology in Leskovac and the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade (courses: Pharmaceutical Management and Marketing - Innovative business in pharmacy; pharmaceutical technologies) and at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Niš.

Slobodanka Jovanović authored the book INVENTION ACTIVITY IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY and co- authored the book TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION FOR PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES.
