Faith Formation & Youth Ministry News

Week 3 during Advent represents JOY! This candle is pink and is often called the shep- herd’s candle. Spread the Joy of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ, to others this week! Several Students in Grades 2 and 3 made their First Reconciliation last week. Students in Mrs. Barb Houbeck’s 2nd Grade Class that prepared and made their First Reconciliation are: Ally Mailloux and Samuel Martin. Students from Ms. Char VanMarcke’s 3rd Grade Class that made their First Reconciliation are: Elle McCarthy, Alexandria Quinlan and Ri- ley Smith. We are proud of all their efforts in making this Sacrament of Healing and Forgiveness. All In-Person Students participated in the Advent Reconciliation last week as well. Due to the pandemic, our Advent Service was different this time as each class came down one at a time. We reflected and prayed for forgiveness and felt cleansed after receiving this Sacrament! God is great! All the Time! Products purchased from the Christmas Ham, Kielbasa & Pierogi Sale can be picked up on Tuesday, December 22 from 4-7 p.m. Pick up will be made directly to your car. Just line up by the cones and wait for the attendant to bring your order. This should aide in less contact for you during the pandemic. Once again, thanks for your cooperation and Thank You for ordering from us!

Musical Notes… COATS FOR KIDS Happy Gaudete Sunday!

Gaudete is Latin for “rejoice.” The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called this because the first word of the Latin Entrance Antiphon for this day is, “Gaudete in Domino semper” (“Rejoice in the Lord always”). As I planned the music for the Advent Season, I purposefully waited to use two of my favorite plainchants. Plainchant is a form of medieval church music that involves chanting or words that are sung, without any instrumental ac- companiment. Baby, It's Cold Outside!!

Also this weekend, our Cantors and Musicians will offer another traditional have provided us with plainchant, Conditor Alme, better known as Creator of the Stars of new winter coats for children in need. Hopefully, the music from the early church and the present church will forever Tina Bullis link us as one church preparing the way for the Lord. Christian Service Director Debi Szeliga, Music Director Page 5 The Gift of Christmas

Gifts are given at special occasions to let friends and family know they are loved and cared for. When we give gifts it brings happiness to the receiver, and in return it brings the giver joy.

God gives you everlasting gifts at Christ- mas. It is not wrapped in shiny wrapping paper, but strips of cloth. The gift is not under the Christmas tree, but in a man- ger. The gift of His Son, Jesus, the Sav- ior. God gives you light in the darkness. God gives you hope as you wait patiently for His purpose to be fulfilled. God gives you a crown; he makes you His child, the child of the King.

Some gifts you receive won't last forver. You may not even receive a gift! But a gift from God is forever, it is free, it is all you need.

This Christmas, give yourself to Jesus! May Jesus be born in your heart. May He give you peace and joy, and the free gift of eternal life.
