Frick Award Online Balloting Begins Tomorrow and Continues Through Sept. 30 OAKLAND, Calif. – No baseball broadcaster was more decisive—or distinctive—in the big moment than the Oakland A’s late, great Bill King. Now, it’s time for his legions of ardent supporters to be just as decisive in voting him into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Starting tomorrow, fans of the legendary A’s announcer can cast their online ballot for a man who is generally regarded as the greatest broadcaster in Bay Area history when the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Facebook site is activated for 2012 Ford C. Frick Award voting during the month of September. King, who passed away at the age of 78 in 2005, was the leading national vote-getter in fan balloting for the Frick Award in both 2005 and 2006. Following his death, the A’s permanently named their Coliseum broadcast facilities the “Bill King Broadcast Booth” after the team’s revered former voice. Online voting for fan selections for the award will begin at 7 a.m. PDT tomorrow, Sept. 1, at the Hall of Fame’s Facebook site, www.facebook.com/baseballhall, and conclude at 2 p.m. PDT Sept. 30. The top three fan selections from votes tallied at the site during September will appear on the final 10-name ballot for the award.

10 DIVISION I Baseball DIVISION I 2002 Championship Edited by Ty Halpin. Highlights Horns Hook Fifth NCAA Title: Texas won its fifth championship, outlasting South Carolina, 12-6, in the title game June 22. Longhorns skipper Augie Garrido became the first coach to win a Men’s College World Series crown with two different teams. Garrido led Cal State Fullerton to three previous titles. Texas’ other championships came in 1949, 1950, 1975 and 1983. Reliever Huston Street hurled one and two-thirds scoreless innings to pick up a series-record fourth save and win most outstanding player honors. Street, the fourth freshman in history to win the award, allowed one hit and struck out one batter in his 14th save of the year. To My Fellow Hobbyists, Welcome to our second auction of 2011. With this auction we are asking our bidders and consignors to respond to a poll we are conducting about changing the requirements for initial bids in our future auctions. We are very much in favor of this new concept, especially considering many of you have suggested it to us over the past few years. The new procedure is explained in a starburst on our homepage. Please feel free to call us with any questions. Our dedicated team has once again outdone itself in assembling this fantastic array of rare, unusual and one-of-a-kind items. Dave Stoddard has added even more new features to keep our site simple and user friendly while incorporating new and useful ideas. James Feagin, Mark Raines, Kevin Heffner, and Ricky Huggins have carefully described all the items, while Matt Flores and Stefan Wisinski have captured the images. Randy Curtis has done a fantastic job of working with our consignors to create some unique and interesting lots. Mark Spinrad and Jamey Austin have swept the catalog for #@%#”s, and Josh Wulkan and Stefan have given Mike and Sally Henry the “canvas and paint” they need for them to create another mas- terpiece. Kris Fraley did another amazing job sending out all the lots in a safe and timely manner, while Barry Malkin's eagle eyes have once again spotted some high-grade gems!! Our constantly growing nationwide staff of consignor reps (now at 37 strong), lead by the tireless Steve Dickler, has gathered together another fine assortment of “goodies.” Should you have items or an entire col- lection you are thinking about selling, a full list of our well-qualified reps (along with their contact info) is available in this catalog.
