1. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange jailed for 50 weeks:

A UK court has sentenced wikileaks founder Julian Assange to 50 weeks jail for breaching the bail conditions imposed on him in relation to proceedings against him in Sweden for rape charges.

2. Tengku Maimun becomes the 1st Chief Justice of :

Datuk Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who was serving as the Federal Judge has been appointed as the first women Chief Justice of Malaysia. She has succeeded . The federal court of Malaysia is the highest and final court of appeal and the Chief Justice heads this court as well as the Malaysian judicial system.

3. Appointment of Civil Judges in Haryana Judicial Services stayed by the Supreme Court:

The apex court has stayed the selection process of the Civil Judges in Haryana State Judicial Services due to a malafide and arbitrary evaluation method in the Mains exam. The Supreme Court has appointed former SC Judge Justice A K Sikri to look into the issues pertaining to recruitment in this exam.

4. 2018 IAS-IPS cadre allocation quashed by Delhi :

The High Court of Delhi has quashed the cadre allocation of IAS and IPS of the 2018 batch. These cadre allocations were done on the basis of the new cadre allotment policy of the Government of India for the All India Services. The Delhi High Court has found this policy and cadre allotment to be unfair and has ordered a fresh allotment. The Government of India has filed an appeal seeking a stay on this order.

There are three All India Services in India: The Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Indian Forest Service (IFoS). The officers for these services are selected from the UPSC Civil Services Examination. These are called the All India Services because the officers are appointed by the union government but they work for respective state governments (based on the cadre/state they are allotted).

5. Stay on quota for Maratha community in PG medical and dental courses: Maharashtra Government moves to Supreme Court.

The Government of Maharashtra has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court of India challenging the Bombay High Court's decision to stay quota for Maratha community in PG medical and dental courses for this year. The government of Maharashtra in 2018 had announced 16% SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) reservation to the Maratha Community. The government as claimed that the admission process for the same has already started.

7. Asaram bapu’s Son Narayan Sai gets life imprisonment:

A sessions court of Surat sentenced Narayan Sai to life imprisonment for a rape case filed by a former woman devotee in 2013.
