New to the School in 2018–2019

McKenna Daly will be joining SHS as a Grade I gradehead. McKenna previously worked at the Tenacre Country ​ Day School in Wellesley as a math instructor and in instructional support. She holds a BA in Elementary Education from Loyola University.

Pam Dickinson joined Shady Hill in May as the Director of External Relations and Strategic Engagement. Last ​ year, she consulted for Shady Hill, developing Partnerships with Purpose, our new public-purpose initiative. Pam has been a trustee of Beacon Academy, Prospect Hill Academy, The Foundation to Be Named Later, and Shady Hill. She is the mother of four Shady Hill graduates and holds a BA in Environmental Policy from Williams College.

Mike Evans will be the new Director of Auxiliary Programs. For the past three years, Mike has been Assistant ​ Lower School Head and a middle school math instructor at Clark School in Rowley. He holds a Foundation Degree from Britannia Royal Navy College, a BSc from the University of Plymouth and an MEd from UMass Lowell.

Sarah Fromme will join SHS as our new Mandarin teacher. From 2009-2017, Sarah was the Lead Mandarin ​ Teacher at Oregon Episcopal School. She holds a BFA from Chinese Cultural University and an MBA in Marketing from Oklahoma City University.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Ginsberg will be the Director of Development and Alumni Relations. Betsy was in fundraising ​ at for seven years prior to joining the Shady Hill Advancement Office in June. Betsy has a BA in Comparative Literature from Brown University.

Heidi McCune will join Shady Hill as a physical education teacher. Heidi was the Middle School Athletic Director ​ and Assistant Director of Athletics at the American School in London for the past four years. She has a BA in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University and an MS in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania.

Jenny Medvene-Collins will be a Grade II gradehead. She spent the past three years as a fourth grade homeroom ​ and humanities teacher at Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC. Jenny holds a BA in English and World Literature from Pitzer College and an MS in Childhood General Education from Bank Street College of Education.

Brendan Murphy will join the Athletics Department as a physical education teacher. Brendan graduated this past ​ May from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Kinesiology. While at UNH, Brendan worked as a student teacher at Newmarket Elementary School.

Paran Quigley will be the new Grade VIII gradehead. Paran previously served as a middle school teacher and the ​ Diversity Coordinator at the as well as a curriculum advisor at Explo at Yale. Paran holds a BA from the University of Vermont in Environmental Studies, Film and Television Studies, and Gender Studies. Paran also has an MA in Environmental Studies from Brown University.

Erika Roderick will be covering Hannah Brewster’s Grade IV parental leave this fall. Erika has been a Grade 3 ​ classroom teacher at the Advent School since 2008. Erika has a BS in Elementary Education from Boston University and an MEd from Lesley University.

Kathy Sillman will be the new Lower School Math Coordinator. Kathy served as the Principal Intern at the Heath ​ School in Brookline and the Director of Teacher Learning at Temple Israel in Boston from 2010-2015. Kathy holds an AB from Brown University, a MSEd in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education, a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Lynch School of Education, Boston College, and an MEd from the Educator Leadership Institute, EDCO Collaborative/Endicott College.

Devon Wilson-Hill will be the new Director of Annual Programs. Devon has an AB in Italian Studies and Spanish ​ Language and Literature from Smith College. Devon was the Assistant Director of Development at Wellesley Centers for Women last year and before that served as the Family Philanthropy Coordinator and Annual Fund Manager at Boston Medical Center.

In New Shady Hill Roles in 2018–2019

Chris Alaimo will be the Director of Community Engagement. She was the Interim Annual Fund Officer in the ​ Advancement Office this past year.

Melissa Carver will be the new Director of Athletics and Physical Education. Melissa has been the Assistant ​ Director of Athletics for the past year.

Hanh Cho will be our Lower School Director of Learning Resources. Hanh served as Shady Hill’s Lower School ​ Math Coordinator last year.

Francesco Cupolo will serve as the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs as well as the Makerspace Manager. ​ Francesco was formerly the Assistant Director of Co-Curricular Programs.

Antonio Humphrey TTC ‘18 will be a Grade VI gradehead. While apprenticing in Josh Fischel’s Grade VI class ​ through Shady Hill’s TTC program, Antonio also earned his MEd in Elementary Education from Lesley University. He holds a BA in Psychology and Film from Vassar College.

Anne Moncrieff ‘71 TTC ‘15 will cover the parental leave for Mellisha Culpepper’s Grade V class this fall. In the ​ past two years, Anne has covered two parental leaves at SHS. Anne has a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Educational Leadership from University of Alabama.

Kimberly Parker will be the Assistant Director of the TTC after a year serving as the TTC Program Supervisor. ​

Wani Qiu TTC ‘18 will be a Grade II gradehead. Wani holds a BA in Educational Psychology and Studio Arts ​ from Swarthmore College, an MEd in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MEd in Early Childhood Education and Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University.

Maggie Rosenbaum TTC ‘18 will be the Director of Community Events. She graduated from the TTC in June and ​ is returning to the Advancement Office where she previously served as the Advancement Assistant for two years.

Galen White will transition from a Grade I to a Grade II gradehead. ​

Departing Shady Hill School in 2018–2019

Advancement Assistant Judy Beecher began working at WGBH in May. Mandarin teacher Pei-Chi Chuang will ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ teach Mandarin in the Lexington Public Schools. Wayne Corliss left Shady Hill to pursue other opportunities. ​ ​ ​ Grade VI Gradehead Josh Fischel will be teaching English at Acton-Boxborough High School starting in the fall. ​ ​ ​ Associate Director of Advancement Nicole Ferrara started her position as a Leadership Gift Officer at MIT. ​ ​ Afterschool Teacher Rob Fujiwara left to pursue new opportunities in Vermont. After 27 years at Shady Hill, ​ ​ ​ ​ Grade VIII Gradehead Sharon Jones Phinney will be Lower School Head at The . Interim Director ​ ​ of Co-Curricular Programs Betsy Kelly will be the new Head of School at Heronfield Academy. Grade II Gradehead ​ ​ ​ ​ Anna Klepper will be teaching second grade at the Trinity School in NYC. Grade II Gradehead Shannon Kilduff ​ ​ ​ ​ TTC ‘04 will be teaching first grade at . Director of Development Kimberly Kubik began working ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ at Colby College as a leadership gift officer. Abbey Leaman left her role as Director of Community and Alumni ​ ​ Relations to move back home to Philadelphia with her family. Director of Athletics Stephen Marks will be the new ​ ​ Director of Athletics, Health, and Wellness for the Ashland Public Schools. Luis Melo has retired after working at ​ ​ Shady Hill for 30 years. Saskia Nilsen left her role as Middle School Learning Resources Teacher. Jackie Norling ​ ​ ​ left her role as Advancement Services Manager to take on a new role at Babson College. Marya Outterson has ​ ​ finished her substitute Kindergarten Literacy Specialist position. After 11 years of working at Shady Hill Ignacio ​ ​ ​ Perez has retired. Lower School Learning Resources Director Docia Reed has retired to the state of Washington. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Grade II Gradehead Diane Robinson is moving closer to her grandchildren and pursuing other opportunities. ​ ​ ​ Afterschool Teacher Ben Stacy has accepted a teaching position. After 31 years at Shady Hill, Jen Tobin Haydock ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ TTC ‘85 has retired and will move to Vermont. Grade IV Gradehead Leah Walpuck will be teaching in ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Minneapolis. PE Teacher Michelle Young will become the Head of the PE Department at . ​ ​ ​ ​ ​
