F2 Principal Rundown

There will be a four-week period of on the F2 projects. Below is the standard schedule of production activities for each production week. Be aware that scheduling changes may occur during the production cycle, due to circumstances that may arise on any given show.

Note that Week 9’s schedule differs slightly because only three shows are shooting that week.

MONDAY

1:00PM EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT The first show of the week will checkout equipment on Monday afternoon at 1:00PM. The following crew members are required to attend the equipment checkout: PR: AD kit and production incidentals SS: kit 1C: All equipment KY: All equipment GF: All lighting and electrical equipment BO: All sound equipment AE: All data wrangling equipment Note: The PRODUCER is responsible for making sure that all special equipment has been pre-ordered correctly. Special equipment requests for all shows in a given week must be submitted to JStone and JKassler by 5:00PM on the preceding Friday. Failure to submit an on-time and complete request (including exact measurements for visqueen and greenscreen paper) will result in special equipment being denied.

THE DAY BEFORE SHOOTING (FOR EACH SHOW)

The DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY, and get a prep day on the day before they shoot. If the location owner consents, pre-dressing of the set is permitted. Pre-lighting of the set is not permitted, however.

4:00PM PRODUCTION MEETING All ATL and BTL crew must attend a mandatory production management meeting. The PRODUCER will run the meeting.

5:00PM DIRECTOR PREP The DIRECTOR will meet one-on-one with II faculty to review directorial choices, address last minute concerns, and get a confidence boost if needed. ;-)

6:00PM CALL SHEET The PRODUCER is responsible for sending out the call sheet no later than 6:00PM. No other crew members are permitted to distribute the call sheet.

THE DAY OF SHOOTING (FOR EACH SHOW)

Each show is entitled to one half-day for principal photography. If you plan to shoot anywhere more than 30 minutes from the school, travel time must be included as part of the working hours to ensure that all cast and crew have a regulated workday.

7:30AM CREW CALL All crew must arrive early enough to be able to start work at 7:30AM sharp. It is the responsibility of the PRODUCER to ensure that all crew sign in at the start of the day.

1:30PM CAMERA WRAP To ensure an on-time wrap, all shooting must cease by 1:30PM at the very latest.

1:30PM EQUIPMENT HANDOFF The packing and loading of equipment at the end of the shooting day will take the form of an equipment handoff to the next show. This means that each crew member responsible for equipment will inspect the equipment with the next person to fill that crew position, and appropriate paperwork will be signed. (On the final day of the week, an on-set equipment check-in with JKassler will occur instead of a handoff.)

2:00PM COMPANY WRAP All equipment must be packed and loaded by this time. It is the responsibility of the PRODUCER to ensure that all crew sign out at the end of the day. The PRODUCER is also responsible for making sure that the location has been thoroughly cleaned, checked, and restored to normal.

2:30PM INGEST & PREP The ASSISTANT EDITOR will collect the CF cards from the camera and sound departments at camera wrap, and will then return to the lab to ingest the media. It is the ASSISTANT EDITOR’s responsibility to prep the footage for dailies that evening.

6:00PM DAILY The PRODUCER must send out the DPR no later than 6:00PM.

6:00PM DAILIES The following crew members on a show are required to attend dailies: EDITOR, ASSISTANT EDITOR, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY, and PRODUCTION DESIGNER. The ASSISTANT EDITOR runs the dailies.

7:00PM DIRECTOR REVIEW The DIRECTOR will meet with Filmmaking II faculty to review how the day went.

SATURDAY (FRIDAY IN WEEK 9)

The final day of each production week is reserved for the EDITOR of each show to assemble an editor’s cut of the . The ASSISTANT EDITOR is responsible for making sure that each project is fully synced and properly organized prior to the start of the editing day.
