Mission Statement

The Catholic Community of St. Timothy serves the areas of Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, and all who come to our door. The serenity of our waterfront church property is a natural reminder of all the gifts that God has given us.

It is our vision, as a Eucharistic people, to come to know and love , to proclaim his teachings through word and deed, to wor- ship together and to minister to one another. We strive to form a supportive and generous faith-filled community. We seek to bear wit- ness to Christ's presence and compassion to all by our service to our sisters and brothers.

Jesus himself, gives the mission to us. “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20) A Message from our Pastor

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, remembering , Mary and . The reading today recalls the story of Mary and Joseph going to the temple to give thanks to God for the gift of their child Jesus. As we think of all that they had been through, from the time of ’s visit to Mary, Joseph’s doubts about Mary and then the ’s visit to him which assured him Mary’s situa- tion was all part of God’s plan, to the birth of Jesus in that Bethlehem stable, they did have much for which they were thankful. While little of that nine-month experience was in their control, as a man and woman of faith, they persevered trusting in God and his promises to them. But there was still much ahead of them that remained unknown and yet they still gave thanks to God in spite of the uncertainty.

Tomorrow is New Year’s Day 2018. As we reflect on the year past with its blessings and challenges we give thanks to God. As we look forward with hope to the unknown that is ahead, we ask God to guide us and walk with us. It is our life of faith that helps us to move forward, to appreciate the bless- ing with thanks. It is a life of faith that helps us to face the challenges with confidence in the help of a loving and caring God. As we begin another year we face life as it comes just as the Holy Family did.

Saint Paul tells us today: “Let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.” As I reflect on this past year, I am thankful to be here at Saint Timothy Parish. I am well aware that there will be many challenges ahead, but I am confident that, as a family of faith, we can face them together trusting in God’s guidance and help. To- gether we begin this new year with hope in all of the possibilities that are ahead for our community. Let us give thanks to God for the gift of faith and pray for one another to be open to God’s will and grace as Mary was.

May this New Year be one of many blessings and joys for you and your family. With your support and prayers, may the Saint Timo- thy family continue to grow in faith and share that faith with our brothers and sisters. Fr. Petringa

Celebrate Epiphany with Us! Friday, January 5

Bring your gifts to the child; bring your gifts to our parish; and make this a beautiful gift to your family to celebrate the season together!

For the last 10 years, St. Tim’s has been joyfully welcoming the infant Jesus into our lives with a prayerful, but fun family celebra- tion! It takes a village to create this spectacle of love and community! Each year our celebration grows in scope and joy. It is easy and fun to be a part of this BIG and WONDERFUL event for our parish. We hear the entire story of the Christmas season, including the visit of the 3 kings. There is food, friendship, music, and lots of laughter.

We need kids, teens, and adults to participate in our intergenerational pageant! We need people with a willingness to jump in and have fun. Dress rehearsal is Thursday, January 4 from 5:30-6:30 pm. If you want to be part of this, and can’t make the next rehearsal, by all means, please let us know! We will find a way for you and your family to join the merriment! We also need helpers behind the scenes! We need help with costumes, dinner set-up and clean-up, angel herd- ing and sheep wrangling, make-up, props, and many other things! If you are willing to help, we’ll find a for you!

If you are interested in participating in the pageant or in any other way, please call the office at 781-769-2522 or email Colleen at [email protected]
