AZTEC HIGHLIGHTS:

Sign up and use ParentVUE: We offer parents an easy way to stay informed about their student’s progress at school. ParentVUE provides secure access to your student’s schedule and classroom information, attendance, grades, progress reports, transcripts, discipline and many other items. Registration is simple. Visit www.tempeunion.org/parentvue to sign up for this tool. There is even a mobile app so you can access your student’s information from your smartphone any time, day or night.

If you need an access key or your account is disabled, please leave a message on our CDS ParentVUE hotline at (480)752-8775 and we will respond to you via email.

It is important to sign up for ParentVUE now, as beginning in April, parents will be asked to confirm residency information through ParentVUE. In addition, beginning next year, the Tempe Union High School District is moving to online registration and parents will use ParentVUE to enroll their students. Be prepared!

COUNSELING/COLLEGES/SCHOLARSHIPS:

Transcripts: All official transcript requests go through Naviance. If you have questions regarding Naviance, please see your school counselor. In addition, unofficial transcripts are now available in StudentVUE and ParentVUE for self- reporting when applying to colleges or applying for scholarships.

Rio Salado spring registration: Registration is still open for the spring semester. To pay for tuition, login to the Student Center or pay by phone by calling the cashier's office at 480-517-8330. Enrollment for Spring 2019 can be done by adding classes in the online Student Center. Please click here to access the Dual Enrollment course list to identify the section numbers of classes. Tuition for the spring semester is due at time of registration. The last date to register for spring classes is February 8th. Rio Salado will be on campus during both lunches on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and Tuesday, Feb. 5 to answer questions. If you are a new student for the Spring 2019 semester (you have not taken any classes with Rio Salado College before), please click here and complete steps 1 through 5.

EVIT: The EVIT Expo is Saturday, January 26, 9 am–1 pm. Pick up information flyer in the Counseling office. Monday, Jan. 28: EVIT application interviews in the Counseling office all day for new 2019-20 EVIT students.

Civic Test: Wednesday AcLab: Seniors who have not taken the Civic Test needed for graduation should sign up to test in E237 during AC Lab. You must sign up to test.

The Barrett Summer Scholars (BSS) program provides students with the opportunity to experience college firsthand and prepare for enrollment and success at State University and Barrett, the Honors College. The program is designed for academically talented and motivated students entering the 8th, 9th, and 10th grade in fall 2019. Our residential program invites students to live on campus, engage in college-level coursework, and participate in a community of peers from across the state. Deadline to apply is March 4.

The César E. Chávez Leadership Institute seeks to improve access to higher education for Arizona high school sophomores and juniors by providing, at no cost to students, a variety of enriching experiences emphasizing leadership development and civic engagement, while advocating for the completion of high school, attending college and educational opportunities at Arizona State University. Since 1995, more than 1,300 students have benefited from participating in the program. Deadline to apply is March 15.

Theater: The Sound of Music is being performed on Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Come see this beautiful play about loving music, loving your country, and loving each other. Over 70 students from our Theatre, Choir, Orchestra, Band, Dance and percussion programs are producing this musical. Tickets are available (cash only) at the door. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Running time is approximately two hours, 45 minutes.

Robotics: We are always looking for donated items such as tools, polycarbonate sheets, aluminum plates and tubing, food, as well as tax credit. Please contact Stephen Heiser at [email protected] on how you can help the team.

The Chandler mall store will donate 20% of all sales from 10am - 1pm on Saturday, February 9 to the Corona del Sol Track & Field Team. Kendra Scott has jewelry accessories for every occasion. Calculators: The CDS Math department recommends purchasing a Texas Instruments 84 TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator. If you have questions, please email Don Guess at [email protected] or speak with your student’s math teacher.

No Holds: The Corona del Sol front office does not hold items for students to pick up, including lunch. The exception is your student’s ID. Please arrange to meet your student between classes to give other items during passing periods. We will not call students out of class to pick up items. Please call us at 480.752.8888 to find out the correct passing times.

Off-campus pass: For your student to receive an off-campus pass, a parent/guardian must call the attendance office on the day of the pass, at least one hour prior to the time of the pass. Students must have their CDS ID to leave. The attendance office will not give off-campus passes during lunch hours (10:15 am – 12:15 am). A parent/guardian must come in and sign the student out. Students feeling ill should report to the nurse. The nurse will contact the parent/guardian to release your student.

Skateboards: Please remember, no riding on skateboards on campus. Have your students bring locks and lock them up before entering campus. We do not hold them in the front office or the classrooms.

The area is clearly marked No Parking. In addition, please, no U-turns on Knox Road – this is very dangerous. We greatly appreciate your help as we try to keep everyone safe. Drop off/pick up of students is allowed in the Rural Lot and on the South curb of Knox Rd. Drop off in the LDS church lot is not allowed.

Student IDs: All students are required to wear their IDs and they must be worn and visible at all times during the school day. Please help us keep our campus secure and remind your students to wear IDs.
