Emotional Photographs ~n Honors Creative Project (HONRS 499) by Samika N. Branham Project Advisor: Mr. Mark Hamilton Ball State University Muncie, Indiana December 1995 Expected Date of Graduation: May 10, 1997 Originally I planned to construct an anthology of my creative writing which would encompass the emotion of solitude. However, working through my poetry I found more than just one emotional outlook; I discovered a mUltitude of interweaving senses which shadowed who I am as a person. This discovery led to abandoning my first notions of what this project should be and adopting a more fitting label in which to cohere my collection. Emotional Photographs traces a process of a maturing in the person as well as the writer. I have divided this collection into sections, and each section contains a different emotional response to the world. The first sections deal with loss, withdrawal from the world, self recognition, and solitude. The latter sections include a sense of family, of love, and finally, of self-discovery. This work begins with negativity of emotions, and ends with a more hopeful outlook, a more accepting point-of-view. Although these poems are not placed together in a chronological fashion (as far as when they were written), they do follow specific stages of my life. I've collated my works in such a way that they are photographs of my emotions collected in an album from adolescent to adult. What emotions I have felt most often are the ones I have incorporated in this work. ~Q :hk-C Samika N. • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anthony's Sex Files "Kerrang!" (N°673 - Juin 1990) - Mick Wall
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anthony's Sex Files "Kerrang!" (n°673 - Juin 1990) - Mick Wall Who? Red Hot Chili Peppers ... Where? Los Angeles ... When? June 1990, in the first of a series of classic Kerrang! interviews, we rewind seven years to find the RHCP on the verge of conquering the world. Happily, singer Anthony Kiedis is already obsessed with shagging ... Los Angeles, 1990, was the perfect time and place to meet the RHCP. They were the face of the future. That they choose to combine rock and funk was hardly original (Funkadelic, Taling Heads and others had already broken the trail). But the way in which the Chilis did it was. In an era of hair-leased, MTV motivated, money-worshipping mindlessness, the Chilis stood out like a beacon. When they came along, it suddenly seemed there might be more than just shite at the end of the tunnel. The Chilis refused to conform, and actually set themselves as hard against the grain as they could go. Often, that would lead to trouble. But instead of derreting them, the Chili Peppers just seemed inspired by the blustering reactions their then only semi-famous presence could provoke. When they performed live on the Johantan Ross Show a few weeks before, Flea had dangled upside down from a rope throughout the entire performance and Anthony had startled Ross by bouncing over his desk and running amok amongst the audience. In person they were no less mood-enhancing. At the photo session which followed this interview Flea leapt from the third floor balcony and hung from it by his fingerstips when suddenly decided "this is too boring, we need something else".

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers Are an American Alternative Rock Band Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983
    1. INTRODUCTION The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. For most of its career, the group has consisted of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary, and drummer Chad Smith. The band's varied musical style has fused traditional rock and heavy metal with various elements of funk, punk rock, hip hop, and pop. In addition to Kiedis and Flea, the group originally featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. However, Slovak died of a heroin overdose in 1988, resulting in Irons resigning. Irons was replaced briefly by D. H. Peligro, before the band found a permanent replacement in Chad Smith, while Slovak was replaced by an upcoming guitarist Frusciante. This line-up recorded the band's fourth and fifth album, 1989's Mother's Milk and 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a critical success and sold over twelve million copies. However, Frusciante grew increasingly uncomfortable with the band's success and left the band abruptly in 1992. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction for their subsequent album, 1995's One Hot Minute. It failed, however, to match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold less than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro was fired from the band due to creative differences. Frusciante, while absent from the band, developed a severe drug addiction and nearly died. In 1998, he completed rehabilitation and, at Flea's request, rejoined the band.
