WRANGLER NFR

In 2014, Sage Kimzey became only the second rookie bull rider to win a world title; he also won the average at the Wrangler NFR, picked up $175,466 to win the RAM Top Gun Truck Award for highest earnings in a single event there, and broke the rookie season earnings record with $318,631. The Wrangler , presented by Polaris RANGER, is the season-ending championship event for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and is widely acknowledged to be the world’s premier rodeo. Held annually since 1959 – and since 1985, every December at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas – the Wrangler NFR is ProRodeo’s richest and most prestigious rodeo, and it showcases the very best cowboys, barrel racers and livestock in the world. A new contract keeps the Wrangler NFR in Las Vegas for another 10 years (2015-24) and raises prize money significantly over that decade. It is telecast to more than 55 million households on CBS Sports Net. New in 2015: Polaris RANGER is the presenting sponsor of the event. Polaris RANGER will award each world champion a brand new Polaris RANGER UTV. The top 15 contestants in bareback riding, , (headers and heelers), saddle , tie-down roping, and – based on money won during the regular season including Wrangler Champions Challenge events, the Justin Boots Playoffs and Championships, and for many bull riders, PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour earnings – qualify to compete at the Wrangler NFR. At the conclusion of the Wrangler NFR, the sport’s world champions are determined based on total season earnings – what they win during the Wrangler NFR added to what they won before the Wrangler NFR. The Wrangler NFR, presented by Polaris RANGER, consists of 10 rounds on 10 consecutive days. Cowboys and barrel racers earn money by placing first through sixth in any round, and pick up more money by placing first through eighth in the average (cumulative times or points earned during the 10 rounds). At the end of each Wrangler NFR, there are two champions in each event (four for team roping): the average winner, who won the Wrangler NFR by having the best cumulative time or score for that event over the 10 rounds, and the world champion, who finished the year with the most money (including what he or she earned at the Wrangler NFR). For each event, the average winner and world champion may be the same person or different people. The 2014 Wrangler NFR was highlighted by a number of remarkable achievements and developments, including these: • All PRCA world champions won the Wrangler NFR average titles as well as their gold buckles (WPRA barrel racer Fallon Taylor did not); it’s the only time this has happened other than 1976-78, when the world title was given to those who won the NFR • Multi-event superstar extended his record number of world all-around champion- ships to 12 (clinching that title in Round 3) and broke the record he set last year for total world championships (he now has 21) as well as breaking his own records for most consecutive all-around championships (nine), highest Wrangler NFR/NFSR career earnings ($1,894,187) and highest career earnings ($5,532,121), among others • Bareback rider Kaycee Feild won two rounds and placed in six more, becoming the first contes- tant to win four consecutive world titles in his event as well as the second contestant to win the average title in any event at the Wrangler NFR four consecutive years (joining team roper Leo Camarillo, 1968-71) . 2015 PRCA MEDIA GUIDE 409 RAM Truck Top Gun Award

Adding to the excitement level of a world championship event involving more than 100 human contestants and hundreds more four-legged athletes is a formidable task. But RAM found a way in 2010 – identifying and rewarding the or cowgirl who earned the most money at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. How does this differ from the other titles awarded at or after the Wrangler NFR, presented by Polaris RANGER? Consider this: • The NFR average title in each event is awarded to the contestant who has the best combined score (in roughstock events) or time (in timed events) across the 10 rounds of the event; this is roughly equivalent to winning any other rodeo – except for the huge payouts and resulting waves of adrenaline through the venue • The world championship in each event is awarded after the Wrangler NFR to the contestant who earned the most money in that event at qualified across the PRCA’s year-long season, in- cluding what he or she won at the NFR (which is often the deciding factor) • The RAM Truck Top Gun Award goes to the one contestant who wins the most money in any single event at the Wrangler NFR; it’s the only title that pits contestants in multiple events against each other. While it might seem obvious that the contestant who won the most money at the entire Wrangler NFR must have won the average title in his or her event, and perhaps the world championship as well, that’s not always the case; see the list below. The winner of the RAM Truck Top Gun Award gets a 3500 RAM Heavy Duty Longhorn Laramie truck, a special Montana Silversmiths custom buckle and a RAM Truck Top Gun-branded gun from Commemora- tive Firearms. In 2014, a rookie won the RAM Truck Top Gun Award for the first time. Sage Kimzey said he’s especially glad to have won the award as a bull rider, because it’s so difficult for bull riders to get a check in every round – making it harder to compete with contestants in other events for the award. Kimzey won three rounds, split the win in Round 7, and placed in four other rounds to win the average, the gold buckle and the RAM Truck Top Gun Award.

Winners of the RAM Truck Top Gun Award: 2014 Sage Kimzey, BR $175,466 first rookie to win the award; broke bull riding Wrangler NFR earnings record 2013 Sherry Cervi, GB $155,899 broke two records en route to her fourth gold buckle and third average title 2012 Mary Walker, GB $146,941 won gold buckle and RAM Truck Top Gun at her first Wrangler NFR – at age 53 2011 Kaycee Feild, BB $179,327 won both average title and world championship 2010* Trevor Brazile, TR, TD $211,509 won TR average title plus AA, TD and TR world championships Top Wrangler NFR earners in single events before the RAM Truck Top Gun Award existed 2009 Sherry Cervi, GB $146,100 won average title but not world championship 2008 Lindsay Sears, GB $139,002 won world championship but not average title 2007 Lindsay Sears, GB $119,255 won neither average title nor world championship 2006 B.J. Schumacher, BR $142,644 won both average title and world championship 2005 Lee Graves, SW $126,412 won both average title and world championship 2004 Billy Etbauer, SB $117,745 won world championship but not average title 2003 Janae Ward, GB $111,908 won both average title and world championship 2002 Jason Jeter, BB $98,432 won average title but not world championship 2001 Janet Stover, GB $126,934 won world championship but not average title 2000 Brent Lewis, TD $103,585 won average title but not world championship * In 2010, the inaugural year of the RAM Truck Top Gun Award, money earned in multiple events counted in Top Gun standings. Starting in 2011, the RAM Truck Top Gun Award goes to the contestant who earns the most in a single event. Had that been true in 2010, bull rider J.W. Harris would have collected the RAM Truck Top Gun Award in addition to his bull riding gold buckle and average title, with $158,738.
