    NDA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP JUDGES PATTY ADAMS Head Judge Patty Adams has enjoyed a career in dance for over 30 years, allowing her to experience a wide field of creative arenas. From dance performance ensembles and musical theater to education and curriculum development, her knowledge base is extensive. Patty’s primary focus has been in the area of hip hop choreography and team preparation for competitive dance events. She has consistently led teams to top ten placements, as well as numerous championships and innovative choreography awards. Having coached at the High School, College and All-Star levels, Adams has a clear understanding of the type and quality of educational feedback that competitive programs value. She currently serves as a Head Judge for NDA, UDA, and The Groove Experience. Adams has been fortunate enough to have been a member of the Hip Hop judging panel at the USASF Worlds since 2013 and is currently the Hip Hop Director for the event. In addition to being a member of the USASF Judges Education Committee, she serves as a Keynote Speaker, Dance Library author and Mentor for USASF Dance.     Yellow Skin, White Masks Mina Yang Abstract: Ethnic studies scholars have long bemoaned the near absence of Asians on the big and small screens and popular music charts in the United States, rendering them as outsiders vis-à-vis the American public sphere. In the last few years, however, Asians have sprung up on shows like “Glee” and “America’s Best Dance Crew” in disproportionately large numbers, challenging entrenched stereotypes and creating new audiovisual associations with Asianness. Music, as purveyed by the mgm Grand Holly- wood Theater and Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in the heart of Las Vegas–the entertainment mecca of the United States–is supposedly the very inspi- ration for life itself. Featuring JabbaWockeeZ, the winning hip-hop group from the ½rst season of the televised dance competition America’s Best Dance Crew (ABDC), MÜS.I.C. (read both as “music” and as “muse I see”) is comprised of fanciful episodes from a life lived creatively. The show featured synchronized dancing, comic miming, athletic feats, extravagant lighting effects, and glittery costumes, held together by a thumping soundtrack made up of familiar tunes, old and new. She then went on to graduate from the Edge Scholarship Program in Los Angeles. Soon after, she became a member of Myo Dance Company under the direction of Josie Walsh. Kersten has assisted and danced for some of the most well renowned choreographers in the business, including Michael Rooney, Mandy Moore, Dan Karaty, and more. Recently, Kersten was one of the featured dancers on Disney’s “e Muppets, and has appeared three times on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”. Other credits include Microsoft Surface National Commercial, Nickelodeon “Halo Awards” and “e Voice” for Florence and e Machine, “Glee”, “America’s Got Talent”, a music video for e All American Rejects, the national American Idol Promo Ad, Nickelodeon show “e Fresh Beat Band”, assistant on “So You ink You Can Dance”, and more. Kersten is also a master teacher and choreographer in the LA area and around the country. She is now a third time nalist for the Ace Award in New York City for her choreography. In 2010 she was awarded the “Emerging Choreographer Award” at Regional Dance America/ Southwest for her work set on Louisiana Delta Ballet. Kersten is incredibly grateful to live out her passion every day as a dancer and choreographer.
