The new OD40 is a long distance illuminator that projects a true collimated, focused beam of high definition light that has been created specifically for object and target identification. It creates a crisp, clean, clear, focused circle of light at long distances. All Walther Pro flashlights and the HL31r headlamp feature the Universal Function System (UFS), a simple, user-friendly operating concept. The first time you push the microswitch, you get 100 percent output. Further pushes, if they are repeated within three seconds, take you to the lower brightness levels of 40 percent and 10 percent respectively. A fourth click turns off the light. However, if you stay at one brightness level for more than three seconds, the next click switches off the light. All models provide a Tactical Defense Strobe (TDS) for warding off attackers. It can be activated from any brightness level, or even from Off, by pressing the microswitch for longer than 0.5 seconds.

The huge beam of this flashlight is generated not by just one lens, but by three specially configured reflector lenses, each measuring 35 millimeters (beam adjustment system). The XL300r can be directly charged by cable using the supplied battery packs consisting of four D cells. Four LEDs show the charge level. If no power connection is available, the multi-battery concept lets you use four regular D bat- teries, so it’s smart to take them along as a reserve. Its seven lenses produce 50 percent more light, namely an incredible 4500 lumens as measured by the ANSI FL1 standard. The output can be reduced to 40 or 10 percent. And with a beam like this, the Tactical Defense Strobe (TDS) can keep even the most determined attacker at bay.
