Bourton hosts a wealth of history including Bourton, Draycote and Frankton Village Hall which dates back to the 19th Century, where it was originally used as a toll house. St. Peter’s church dating back to the early 13th Century and is Grade 2 listed; the Church stands on high ground to the eastern end of the village, its spire can be seen for many miles, especially when floodlit in the evening. Bourton Hall also located in the heart of the village is a large stone mansion house which dates from 1791. They have built on good foundations and developed some excellent lay-led initiatives across the benefice which are already bearing good fruit. They are looking for a leadership style which seeks to train and empower them further. They have a heart for the gospel in a rural context and want to be missional, which is hugely encouraging. Indeed, they are not just planning to reach out to their communities in the future, they have already begun a number of missional activities and events. I have been impressed by the lay leadership I have seen in the Draycote group. The wardens and different parish churches work well together. They have tried hard to make this role do-able, and I believe it will be enjoyable and stimulating working with them. They are genuinely open to trying new things. The only significant contention I have picked up is about the location of the vicarage, which has now been approved by all the PCCs. Undoubtedly, finding a suitable vicarage within the benefice has been difficult. A suitable property has been found in a nearby village, but the time taken to purchase and refurbish this has resulted in a longer vacancy than they had originally anticipated, so there is now a feeling of becoming tired without dedicated spiritual leadership.

    Appendix 3 Updated Baseline Information SA of Rugby Borough Local Plan: The Preferred Option 121 December 2015 Baseline information provides the basis for predicting and monitoring the likely sustainability effects of a plan and helps to identify key sustainability issues and means of dealing with them. Annex 1 of the SEA Directive requires information to be provided on: (a) the relevant aspects of the current state of the environment and the likely evolution thereof without implementation of the plan; (b) the environmental characteristics of areas likely to be significantly affected; (c) any existing environmental problems which are relevant to the plan including, in particular, those relating to any areas of a particular environmental importance, such as areas designated pursuant to Directives 79/409/EEC [the ‘Birds Directive’] and 92/43/EEC [the ‘Habitats Directive’]. Information has been collected at varying scales to provide the necessary detail for the identification of issues and subsequent monitoring: Ward level: monitoring sustainability issues specific to a particular area. Borough level: identifying issues and monitoring trends across the area. County level: enables issues to be compared against the trends at County level. INTRODUCTION Snipe are secretive, highly camouflaged birds, that spend much of their time in the cover of the wet, rushy meadows and tall, tussocky grass in which they nest. Snipe like to roost on muddy banks or islets of bare earth among similar coloured vegetation. They favour ground with water tables to within 20cm of field level throughout the breeding season as the soft damp soils allow them access to worms and other invertebrates (Archer, 2013).
