Visit the Weardale Railway to learn about the area’s rich rail travel heritage and enjoy a leisurely ride through the Weardale Countryside. Kingfisher is conveniently located in the heart of the Durham Dales, offering fabulous places to explore during your visits to the park. The Weardale Way, a long-distance Dales to coast route, runs adjacent to the park and can be accessed directly. The famous High Force waterfall is just a short drive away, as is Hamsterley Forest with miles of walking and cycling routes.
There are also many interesting historical monuments and museums to be discovered within a short drive including Auckland Castle. The 900-year old castle boasts stunning grounds, fish ponds to be explored and the 19th century Deer House. A trip to the award-winning open air Beamish Museum is not to be missed.
