Primary – 17th May – 24th May 2021 Day 1

Daily Mile Challenge

Can you complete the Daily Mile Challenge? Complete 15 minutes of walking, jogging, running or a mixture of all three.

Walk with a friend or family members around school or in your local area.

Your journey could be to and from school or on a recognised route in a local park etc.

Can you become a Daily Mile Star and complete the challenge 5 days in a row?

Alphabet Walk Let’s get some fresh air – where can you walk in your local area?

Write the alphabet on a piece of paper and take this with you on your walk.

As you walk, try to spot things that begin with each letter of the alphabet e.g. ‘A’ could be animal, ‘B’ could be bottle etc.

If there are some letters that you find difficult to find, try finding something which contains that letter rather than ‘starts with the letter’.

Mini Beast Hunt As we approach Summer, warmer weather encourages lots of creepy crawlies to come out.

Go out on a walk in your local area. During your walk use your detective skills and look very carefully on the floor, on and under leaves, in trees and on flowers to see if you can spot the mini-beasts opposite.

Use your detective skills! You may need to peek under large stones and logs, look in cracks and see what’s in the long grass to find them.

Can you find any other mini- beasts on your walk?

Remember – be very careful with any mini-beasts you find. They are very small and delicate! Once you have found one, put them back carefully where you found them!

Cycling Challenge Cycling is a great way to stay fit and healthy! Can you ride your bike around your local area? Make sure the route is safe and that you have an adult with you.

Find a space and create a slalom course using jumpers, beanbags, leaves or other markers.

Move in and out of the markers. At the final marker, turn and repeat the course, returning back to the start.

REMEMBER (SAFETY) – Keep your head up and look where you are going, do not look at your wheels. Always wear a helmet and make sure your course is on a flat surface!

Can you make up your own course? How can you make your course easier? How could you make your course more challenging?

Bird Watching How many can you spot? Walking around your local area or spending time outside is great for your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Take a walk around your local area or go into the garden.

How many of the birds opposite can you spot on your walk?

Did you see any other birds that were on your walk? Can you identify what the bird is called?
