(Ms) No.171 Dated: 23-10-2013 Ippasi 6, Thiruvalluvar Aandu, 2044 Read: 1. From the Chief Engineer (Construction & Maintenance), Letter No.1961/2012 dated 22.05.2013 and 08.07.2013. 2. G.O.(Ms) No.121, Highways & Minor Ports Department dated 24.07.2013. ------- ORDER:- During the budget session 2013-2014, Hon’ble Chief Minister announced that “the 39.40 km length of Thandalam-Perambakkam-Thakkolam-Arukilpadi road will be widened to four lane configuration in order to facilitate easy transportation of trucks from Chennai dry port to National Highways-4”. 2. The Chief Engineer (Construction & Maintenance), Highways Department has sent the details for widening the Thandalam – Perambakkam – Thakkolam - Arukilpadi road from two lane to four lane as follows. (i) The Thandalam – Perambakkam – Thakkolam – Arukilpadi road is an important Major District road (MD 447) located at the outskirts of Chennai City. This road branches from Km 31/6 of NH-4 (Chennai – Bangalore Road) at Thandalam and ends at Km 86/1 of Sadras – Chengalpattu – Kancheepuram – Arakonam – Thiruthani road (SCKAT road) (SH-58) near Arakonam. The total length of road is 39.4 Km. This road passes through 3 districts, namely Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and Vellore and along this route, number of industries are located and being developed. Besides the above, Rajiv Gandhi dry port is also going to be developed at Km 18/5 near Mappedu Village.
