The Burden of Babylon, Which Isaiah the Son of Amoz Did

1 ,The burden of Babylon . : אָ מ ־ ֶ יְַעְ יָה חָ זָה אֲֶ ר ָבֶ ל מַ ָ א 1: 13 msha bbl ashr chze ishoieu bn - amutz : which Isaiah the son of load-of Babylon which he-perceived Isaiah son-of Amoz Amoz did see.

2 Lift ye up a banner upon לָהֶ קל הָרִ ימ נֵס ־ ְ א נְִ ֶ ה ־ הַ ר עַל 2: 13 ol er - nshphe shau - ns erimu qul l·em the high mountain, exalt the on mountain ridge lift-up -you (p) ! banner craise -high-you (p) ! voice to·them voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. : נְדִ יבִ י ִתְחֵ י וְ יָבֹא יָד הָנִ יפ eniphu id u·ibau phthchi ndibim : cwave-you (p) ! hand and·they-shall-enter portals-of patrons

3 I have commanded my גִרַ י קָרָ אתִ י ַ לִמְקָֻ ָ י צִ ֵיתִ י אֲנִ י 3: 13 ani tzuithi l·mqdsh·i gm qrathi gbur·i sanctified ones, I have also I I-minstructed to·ones-being-mhallowed-of·me moreover I-called masterful-men -of·me called my mighty ones for mine anger, [even] them that rejoice in my highness. : ַאֲוָתִ י עִַ יזֵי לְ אִַ י l·aph·i olizi gauth·i : for·anger-of·me joyous-ones-of pomp-of·me

4 The noise of a multitude מַמְלְ כת ְ א קל רָ ב ־ עַ ְ מת ֶהָרִ י הָ מ קל 4: 13 qul emun b·erim dmuth om - rb qul shaun mmlkuth in the mountains, like as of sound-of throng in· the ·mountains likeness-of people many sound-of tumult-of kingdoms a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts : מִלְחָמָ ה צְבָ א מְ פֵַ ד צְבָ את יְהוָה נֶאֱסָפִ י יִ guim nasphim ieue tzbauth mphqd tzba mlchme : mustereth the host of the nations ones-being-gathered Yahweh-of hosts mmustering host-of battle battle. 5 They come from a far כְ לֵ י יְהוָה הַ ָמָ יִ מִקְ צֵ ה מֶרְ חָ ק מֵאֶרֶ ָאִ י 5: 13 baim m·artz mrchq m·qtze e·shmim ieue u·kli country, from the end of ones-coming from·land-of far -off from·end-of the·heavens Yahweh and·instruments-of heaven, [even] the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the .whole land : הָאָרֶ ־ ָ ל לְחֵַ ל זַעְ מ zom·u l·chbl kl - e·artz : menace-of·him to·to-mharm-of all-of the·earth

6 Howl ye; for the day of . : יָבא מִ ַַ י ְ ֹד יְהוָה י קָ רב ִ י הֵ ילִ יל 6: 13 eililu ki qrub ium ieue k·shd m·shdi ibua : the LORD [is] at hand; it chowl-you (p) ! that near day-of Yahweh as·devastation from·Who-Suffices he-shall-come shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands : יִָ ס אֱנ לְבַ ב ־ וְכָ ל ִרְ ֶ ינָה יָדַ יִ ־ ָ ל עַל־ֵ 7: 13 ol-kn kl - idim thrphine u·kl - lbb anush ims : be faint, and every man's on·so all-of hands they-shall-fall -slack and·every-of heart-of mortal he-shall-nmelt heart shall melt:

8 :And they shall be afraid ַ לֵדָ ה יֹאחֵ ז וַחֲבָלִ י צִ ירִ י וְנִבְהָ ל 8: 13 u·nbelu tzirim u·chblim iachzu·n k·iulde pangs and sorrows shall and·they-are-flustered throes and·cramps they-shall-take -hold as· the ·woman -giv ing-birth take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their לְהָבִ י ְ נֵי יִתְ מָ ה רֵ עֵה ־ אֶ ל אִ י יְחִ יל ichilu·n aish al - ro·eu ithmeu phni lebim faces [shall be as] flames. they-shall-travail man to associate-of·him they-shall-be-amazed faces-of blazing -fire s

9 Behold, the day of the הָאָרֶ לָ אָ וַחֲר וְ עֶבְרָ ה אַכְ זָרִ י ָ א יְהוָה ־ י הִ ֵה 9: 13 ene ium - ieue ba akzri u·obre u·chrun aph l·shum e·artz LORD cometh, cruel both behold ! day-of Yahweh coming cruel and·rage and·heat-of anger to·to-place-of the·earth with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners .thereof out of it : מִֶ ָה יְַמִ יד וְחַָאֶ יהָ לְ ַָ ה l·shme u·chtai·e ishmid mm·ne : to·desolation and·sinful-ones-of·her he-shall-cexterminate from·her

10 For the stars of heaven יָהֵ לֹא כְסִ ילֵ יהֶ הַ ָמַ יִ ככְבֵ י ־ ִ י 10: 13 ki - kukbi e·shmim u·ksili·em la ielu and the constellations that stars-of the·heavens and·constellations-of·them not they-shall-cirradiate thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not יִַ יהַ ־ לֹא וְ יָרֵחַ ְ צֵ את הַ ֶמֶ חָ ַ ארָ aur·m chshk e·shmsh b·tzath·u u·irch la - igie cause her light to shine. light-of·them he-is-dark the·sun in·to-come -forth-of·him and·moon not he-shall-cbrighten

12 I will make a man more : אפִ יר מִ ֶתֶ וְאָדָ מִ ָ ז אֱנ אקִ יר 12: 13 auqir anush m·phz u·adm m·kthm auphir : precious than fine gold; I-shall-cmake -precious mortal from·glittering-gold and·human from·certified-gold -of Ophir even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake ְ עֶבְרַ ת מְִ קמָ הָאָרֶ וְתִרְ עַ אַרְ ִ יז ָמַ יִ עַל־ֵ 13: 13 ol-kn shmim argiz u·throsh e·artz m·mqum·e b·obrth the heavens, and the earth on·so heavens I-shall-disturb and·she-shall-quake the·earth from·place ri -of·her in·rage-of shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the .day of his fierce anger : אַ חֲר בְ י צְבָ את יְהוָה ieue tzbauth u·b·ium chrun aph·u : Yahweh-of hosts and·in·day-of heat-of anger-of·him

14 And it shall be as the מְקֵַ וְאֵ י כְ צֹא מָֻ ח ִצְבִ י וְהָ יָה 14: 13 u·eie k·tzbi mdch u·k·tzan u·ain mqbtz chased roe, and as a sheep and·he-becomes as·gazelle churtling -away and·as·flock and· there -is-no one-mgett ing-together that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every .one into his own land : יָנס אַרְ צ ־ אֶ ל וְאִ י יִפְ נ עַ ־ אֶ ל אִ י aish al - om·u iphnu u·aish al - artz·u inusu : man to people-of·him they-shall-face -about and·man to land-of·him they-shall-flee

15 Every one that is found הַ ִסְ ֶ ה ־ וְכָ ל יִָ קֵ ר הַ ִמְ צָ א ־ ָ ל 15: 13 kl - e·nmtza idqr u·kl - e·nsphe shall be thrust through; and every-of the·one-being-found he-shall-be-stabbed and·every-of the·one-being-gathered -up every one that is joined [unto them] shall fall by the sword. : ֶחָרֶ ב יִל iphul b·chrb : he-shall-fall in· the ·sword

16 Their children also shall לְ עֵ ינֵיהֶ יְרֻ ְ וְ עֹלְ לֵ יהֶ 16: 13 u·olli·em irtshu l·oini·em be dashed to pieces before and·unweaned-children -of·them they-shall-be-mdashed-to-pieces to·eyes-of·them their eyes; their houses shall K be spoiled, and their wives ravished. ִ ָ גַלְ נָה נְֵ יהֶ ֵָ יהֶ יִַ ishsu bthi·em u·nshi·em thshglne they-shall-be-rifled houses-of·them and·women-of·them they-shall-be-ravished Q : ִ ָכַבְ נָה thshkbne : they-shall-be-lied-down-with

17 Behold, I will stir up the לֹא וְ זָהָ ב יַחְ ֹב לֹא ֶסֶ ־ אֲֶ ר מָדָ י ־ אֶ ת עֲלֵ יהֶ מֵעִ יר הִ נְנִ י 17: 13 en·ni moir oli·em ath - mdi ashr - ksph la ichshbu u·zeb la Medes against them, which behold·me ! crousing on·them » Medes who silver not they-are-accounting and·gold not shall not regard silver; and [as for] gold, they shall not delight in it. : ב ־ יַחְְ צ ichphtzu - b·u : they-are-delighting in·him

18 Their] bows also shall] לֹא בֶטֶ ־ פְרִ י ְרַ ְַ נָה נְעָרִ י קְ ָ תת 18: 13 u·qshthuth norim thrtshne u·phri - btn la dash the young men to and·bows youths they-shall-mdash-to-pieces and·fruit-of belly not pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not .spare children : עֵ ינָ תָ חס ־ לֹא ָנִ י ־ עַל יְרַ חֵ מ irchmu ol - bnim la - thchus oin·m : they-shall-mhave -compassion over sons not she-shall-commiserate eye-of·them

19 And Babylon, the glory . ְִַ י ְא ִפְ אֶרֶ ת מַמְ לָ כת צְבִ י בָבֶ ל וְהָ יְתָ ה 19: 13 u·eithe bbl tzbi mmlkuth thpharth gaun kshdim of kingdoms, the beauty of and·she-becomes Babylon stateliness-of kingdoms beauty-of pride-of Chaldeans the Chaldees'excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and .Gomorrah : עֲמֹרָ ה ־ וְאֶ ת סְ דֹ ־ אֶ ת אֱהִ י ְמַהְ ֵכַ ת k·mephkth aleim ath - sdm u·ath - omre : as· over turning-of Elohim » Sodom and·» Gomorrah

20 It shall never be ר ־ עַד תְִ ֹ וְ לֹא לָ נֶצַ ח תֵ ֵ ב ־ לֹא 20: 13 la - thshb l·ntzch u·la thshkn od - dur inhabited, neither shall it be not she-shall-be-in dwelt to·permanence and·not she-shall-be -tabernacle d unto generation dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds ־ לֹא וְ רֹעִ י עֲרָ בִ י ָ יַהֵ ל ־ וְ לֹא וָדר u·dur u·la - iel shm orbi u·roim la - make their fold there. and·generation and·not he-shall-mtent there Arab and·ones-being-shepherds not

21 But wild beasts of the אֹחִ י בֵָ יהֶ מָלְ א צִ ִ י ָ ־ וְרָ בְ צ 21: 13 u·rbtzu - shm tziim u·mlau bthi·em achim desert shall lie there; and and·they-recline there desert-creatures and·they-are -full houses-of·them owls their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs .shall dance there : ָ ־ יְרַ ְ ד ְעִ ירִ י יַעֲנָה ְ נת ָ וְ ָכְ נ u·shknu shm bnuth ione u·shoirim irqdu - shm : and·they-tabernacle there daughters-of ostrich and·hairy-goat s they-shall-mdance there

22 And the wild beasts of וְקָ רב עֹנֶג ְהֵ יכְ לֵ י וְתַ ִ י ְ אַלְ מנתָ יו אִ ִ י וְ עָנָה 22: 13 u·one aiim b·almnuthi·u u·thnim b·eikli ong u·qrub the islands shall cry in their and·he-responds desert-howlers in·widows-of·him and·jackals in·palaces-of delicacy and·near desolate houses, and dragons in [their] pleasant palaces: and her time [is] near to come, and her days : יִָ ֵ כ לֹא וְ יָמֶ יהָ עִָ לָ בא l·bua oth·e u·imi·e la imshku : shall not be prolonged. to·to-come-of era-of·her and·days-of·her not they-shall-be-protracted
