FEBRUARY 6 PHOTO WORKSHOP LUCA BRACALI WHO IS LUCA BRACALI ABOUT ME Luca Bracali has travelled 138 countries, published 10 books and won 8 International Photo contests. Since 2008 he is a member of the APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists) thanks to his media and scientific contributions related to the environment. In 2009 he was the only reporter to have reached the geographic North Pole by skiing. In 2010 he made his debut in the world of fine-art photography and his photos are shown in author exhibitions, in museums and galleries, in Roma, Sofia, Kiev, Copenhagen, Montreal and New York. Since 2011 he has been working as Director of the Italian Rai TV and signed 4 stories for National Geographic. The Minor Planet Center of Cambridge named after him the 198,616th discovered asteroid. This allows to develop a program that features a strong naturalistic and historic interest. Each day is studied to obtain the maximum experience taking into account the best timing to shoot, the light conditions and everything related to photography. TrekKING 19 DAYS (ItalY-ItalY) ACCOMMODATION TYPES: 3 NIGHTS IN HOTEL + OVERNIGHT IN TENTED CAMPS AND HOMESTAYS DIFFICULTY: Snow Leopard: Walks in search of the leo- pard and the Himalayan fauna, low tempe- ratures. Chaddar Trek: trekking of 6.5 hours walk per day in a cold environment and very cold night temperatures. 2017 PROGRAMMA DI MASSIMA “SNOW LEOPARD” day 1 - 28 January 2017 Flight with Turkish Airline from Bologna at 11.25 day 2 - 29 January 2017 Arrival in Delhi hours at 5.15 – at 8.45 flight to Leh. Hotel accommodation. We will experience the mystical and fasci- nating atmosphere of the most beautiful Buddhist monasteries of Ladakh. It is a day dedicated to photo reportage and portrait, a small workshop in the workshop This day will also help us also to acclimatize to the altitude, in fact Leh is located at almost 3,500 meters above sea level. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight. day 3 - 30 January 2017 After breakfast we will depart by car to reach Zingchen where our adventure kicks off. A few hours walk will take us into the natural habitat of the snow leopard. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp. day 4-7 - Days 4 -7 From January 31 to February 3 2017 In these days we will explore the valleys between the mountains of Zanskar in search of the Himalayan wildlife that lives here in abun- dance. In particular we will look for traces of the snow leopard, a very elusive animal and difficult to photograph but this time of year often the snow leopard comes down from the mountains in search for food. This region of the Zanskar (at an altitude of 4000 meters) is a pro- tected area for flora and wildlife since 1981. The rocky conformation and the scarce vegetation provide an ideal place for those who want to photograph wildlife. In addition to the snow leopard lives here a variety of wild animals Tibetan wolf, the ibex, the Tibetan antelope, the blue sheep and more. It is possible to spot the golden eagle, the vulture and several other species of migratory birds. Experienced local guides will guide us to discover the territory and the animals, in the evening we will return to our camp where we will discuss the photos of the day. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp. day 8 - 4 February 2017 We will hike back to Zingchen where we will find our vehicles and we will head back to Leh. Dinner and overnight in hotel. day 9 - 5 February 2017 Return to Delhi with the flight scheduled at 10,35 – arrival in Delhi 11,55. Overnight in Delhi in the area near the airport called Aerocity, a nice hotel to relax and where will watch and discuss the photos. As alternative, option to continue and take part in the trek on the frozen Zanskar river, see detailed program Chaddar Trek. day 10 -6 February 2017 Transfer to the airport to take the flight of the Turkish Airlines at 6,55 with arrival in Bologna around 17,45 EXTENSION TREKKING PROGRAM “CHADDAR TREK” day 9 - 5 February 2017 LEH - CHILING (3200 M) – CAMP SHING RA We will depart from Leh after breakfast to reach Chilling by jeep and start our adventure along the Zanskar river. Trekking of about 4/5 hours. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp. day 10 - 6 February 2017 SHING RA – TIBBAVO 6/7 HOURS OF TREKKING We will hike through a narrow canyon up to the valley with moun- tains and frozen waterfalls surrounding our path. Dinner and overni- ght in a tented camp.. day 11 - 7 February 2017 TIBBAVO - NYRAK PULU (3400 M) 6/7 HOURS OF TREKKING On our way we will cross by many caves and ice falls up to the maje- stic Nyrak. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp / cave.. day 12 - 8 February 2017 NYRAK PULU – TSARAK DO 5/6 HOURS OF TREKKING Another day through the deep valley carved by the river Zanskar. A bit higher is the village of Lingshed and its monastery inhabited by 60 monks. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp. day 13 - 9 February 2017: TSARAK DO – ZANGLA Raggiungeremo il villaggio di Zangla in jeep per visitare il mo- nastero abitato da monache donna ed il palazzo reale. Pernot- tamento a Zangla. day 14 - 10 February 2017: ZANGLA - DOLMAY Return by jeep to Tsarak, where will continue our trekking to Dolmay. day 15 - 11February 2017 DOLMAY – YOKMADO 6/7 HOURS OF TREKKING day 16 - 12 February 2017: YOKMADO - PADER TSOMO day 17 -13 February 2017: Pader Tsomo – Tillat 3 hours trekking - Leh (3500 m). In about three hours of trekking we will get to the point where our jeeps will bring us back to Leh. Dinner and overnight in ho- tel day 18 - 14 February 2017: Return to Delhi with the flight scheduled at 10,35 – arrival in Delhi 11,55.
