Ground Rules

This is a new type of committee, we’ll follow the ground rules established by the official Facebook board of directors. The official language is English. Our mission is to analyze the new issues that Facebook is facing socially and politically.

In this case, we will focus on the technological advances that hackers are taking advantage of. The central mission is to know how to help and protect our users.

Introduction

Nowadays, well-known social networks like Facebook are having several security problems. Security is one of the most important issues, we need to take care of otherwise we will lose our users and money. Our primary necessity is to inform our users that they are safe with our services and to update the terms of use.

Setting the Issue

The state of California has just announced a new law on January 1st, 2020 that established that new social networks need to improve their technology so users can be protected. Facebook at first refused these declarations, causing controversy and a lot of people stopped using Facebook due to mistrust.

We need to regain our users´ trust. We lost the first objective that Zuckerberg established while he was creating the app, that consists of meeting people in a safe way.

FACING THE NEW DIGITAL ERA AND IT’S CHALLENGES 4 Historical Background

Since 2018, Facebook started having problems with its policy contracts. If we think of how many of us have just accepted the policy of Facebook without reading it. According to

FayerWayer just 20% of people in Mexico read the privacy policy.

In April 2019 during the Facebook hearing defended the new tech industry and how the government wants to take control of social media, at least in the USA.

They want to edit the policy of privacy that Facebook had, and change it in order that the government will have access to any chat and private information of every user. Obviously,

Mark was uncomfortable with it, so he decided to change and started a “tech war” against the

USA government.

Relevance in Today's World

Mark Zuckerberg was able to arrive at an agreement, however, it only applied to

California because other states didn´t agree with all the terms. Now it’s our opportunity to change peoples´ perspectives and the government in favor of the company.

We need to focus more on a solution that benefits Facebook, the people, and the government.
