Transmission Information/Technical Specifications To Receive AT&T SportsNet & Root Sports Update August 15th, 2017

AT&T SportsNet which includes AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, and AT&T SportsNet Southwest in addition to the Root Sports Northwest region utilizes MPEG4 HD satellite transport. These services can only be received with a Cisco/SA D9858 for facilities requiring SD analog or SD MPEG2 ASI outputs as well as HD MPEG2 ASI outputs or utilize a D9854 for applications that require either an HD SDI or an SD SDI Outputs. No other previous Cisco/SA decoder models can receive either the AT&T SportsNet and Root Sports Networks because of the MPEG4 transport and DVB-S2 modulation.

Cue Tone Operation for Advertisement Insertion

Many affiliates will be using this transcoder in conjunction with their advertisement insertion (ad insertion) equipment to perform local advertisement insertion on AT&T SportsNet and Root Sports Northwest. The instructions below will assist you in interconnection of the transcoder to your ad insertion equipment.

D9858 Advanced Receiver Transcoder Rear Panel Connections

Audio Cue tone sequences to trigger your analog ad insertion equipment will be available on the AUDIO 2 balanced audio output, on the right channel connection. Use a shielded two-conductor audio cable to interconnect from the transcoder’s AUDIO 2 RIGHT (R + - G) terminal block connections to the cue tone balanced audio input of your ad insertion equipment for AT&T SportsNet and Root Sports Northwest.

The tone sequence for ad starts and stops will be present on this audio channel. The tone sequence for the ads is as follows:

• 574* is the pre-roll start sequence • 574# is the end of ad (switch back) sequence

If you were previously using contact closures or GPI outputs to trigger your ad insertion equipment, you may need to re-configure your ad insertion equipment to accept an audio cue tone triggering input.

The AUDIO 2 Left audio channel (L + - G) can be used for SAP (second audio program) channel audio for your BTSC stereo encoder on an analog television modulator. 3
