For one-color shawl:

925 yds. soft bulky or chunky wt. yarn* in main color (MC)

For three-color shawl:

555 yds. soft bulky or chunky wt. yarn* in main color (MC) 185 yds. soft bulky or chunky wt. yarn* in Color A 185 yds. soft bulky or chunky wt. yarn* in Color B

Size K hook, or size needed to obtain gauge Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Shawl is a rectangular piece worked back and forth in rows from narrow end to narrow end.

Shawl (one-color version)

Row 1: With MC, ch 91, work 2 dc in third ch from hook, *skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in ea of next 3 ch, rep from * across, working sc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, skip 3 dc, *sc in next sp (the sp formed by the ch-3 on previous row), ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 1 dc in next sc, rep from * across, ending with sc in last sp, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until shawl measures approx. 60", or desired length. Fasten off and weave in tails.

Shawl (three-color version)

Row 1: With Color A, ch 91, work 2 dc in third ch from hook, *skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in ea of next 3 ch, rep from * across, working sc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, skip 3 dc, *sc in next sp (the sp formed by the ch-3 on previous row), ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 1 dc in next sc, rep from * across, ending with sc in last sp, turn.

Rows 3-4: Rep Row 2. At end of Row 4, fasten off Color A, attach Color B.

Row 5: With Color B, rep Row 2.

Rows 6-8: Rep Row 2. At end of Row 8, fasten off Color B, attach MC.

With MC, rep Row 2 until shawl measures approx. 54” from beg, or 6” less than desired finished length. At end of last row, fasten off MC, attach Color B.

Next 4 rows: With Color B, rep Row 2. At end of fourth row, fasten off Color B, attach Color A.

Last 4 rows: With Color A, rep Row 2. Fasten off and weave in all tails.
