It is situated in the Western part of Balangir Town – 1.5k.m from Govt. Bus Stand and 4k.m from Balangir Railway Statation. POST GRADUATE COURSES OFFERED This college offers two year Post Graduate courses in Arts, Science & Commerce stream in the following subjects. Subject Nos. of Seats 1. English 16 2. Odia 16 3. An Honours graduate in the concerned subject securing minimum honours marks shall be eligible to apply for admission. 2. A graduate with pass course or pass without Hons. in the concerned faculty having minimum 45% marks in the concerned subject and securing minimum 50% of marks in aggregate (Excluding Ancillary & FC marks) shall be eligible to apply for admission (Elective subject will be considered as Pass subject(s)) 3. If an Honours candidate applies for a subject which is not his/her honours subject but a pass subject, then he/she will be treated as pass candidate. His/her marks in honours will be converted to pass subject proportionately. 4. Mathematics is to be a subject in B.Sc to apply for admission in PG Chemistry course. 5. Candidate belonging to SC/ST shall be given relaxation of 5% of marks in aggregate and in concerned subject as per the Govt. rules. 6. Those who have represented the country at International level shall be given admission subject to fulfillment of minimum eligible conditions. Reservation i. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) 16.25% and 22.5% seats of the sanctioned strength of first year class are reserved for SC & ST respectively. The reserved seats are not interchangeable. (Caste certificate to be submitted from Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahasildar) ii. Physical Handicapped (PH) 3% seats of the sanctioned strength shall be reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates (A handicapped candidate shall be considered for reservation seats only on production of certificate from the CDMO, SDMO/CMO of Capital Hospital to this effect to the extent of 40% or above) iii. Burma Repatriates (BR) 2% of the seats sanctioned shall be reserved for the children of bonafide Burma Repatriates. iv. Ex-Servicemen (ESM) 1% of sanctioned seats shall be reserved for the children/wife/husband of ex- servicemen (Certificate to that effect issued by Rajya Sainik Board/Zilla Sainik Board must be produced) v. Government servants/serving Defence personnel of Transfer (GSOT) 4% of seats sanctioned shall be reserved for the self children/wife/husband of Government Servants/Serving Defence Personnel of transfer within normal time of admission as per the rules laid down in Govt. prospectus for admission. a) Government servants on deputation to any Governmetn/Non Government agency shall be eligible for the reservations, but Govt. servants on permanent transfer to corporate owned body shall not be eligible for the concession. b) A Govt. servant retiring from service and shifting to a place where he/she wishes to reside after retirement shall be treated as Government servant on transfer. Admission: Admission into P.G. Programmes shall be based strictly on merit. The merit of a candidate shall be determined on the basis of Career-cum-Entrance Test. The entrance test will be held on 03.07.2018 at 10.00 am. The venue of the Entrance Test is Rajendra College (Auto), Balangir. Last Date of Submission: The Application duly filled in along with required documents should reach the undersigned on or before 18.06.2018 by 5.00 pm through Regd/Speed Post/Courier Service only. Entrance Test a. Admission to P.G. course will be made on the basis of entrance test and career assessment, i. e. 75% entrance + 25% Career assessment. b. Multiple choice questions will be set as per the syllabus of U.G. courses . c. No call letter shall be issued for Entrance Test. The candidates are required to report for Entrance Test one hour before the commencement of the Test along with a Photo ID proof. While calculating career mark, weightage will be given to candidates having secured Honours in the subjects concerned only. Honours in the other subjects shall be put at par with pass weightage. VACANCY IN RESERVED SEATS After admitting all eligible applicants for the reserved categories the balance of reserved seats if any, shall be filled up by general candidates on the last date of admission. No seat shall remain reserved for any category beyond the last date of regular admission i.e. 6(six) weeks from the date of reopening of the college after summer vacation (Last 2 weeks admission with late fine. ADMISSION BROCHURE FOR M.PHIL PROGRAMME, 2018-19 M.PHIL.COURSES OFFERED: The Government of Odisha in the Department of Higher Education have accorded opening permission for M.Phil in Economics, History, Political Science, Botany, Chemistry, Zoology and Commerce with 08 seats each from the academic session 2017-18 Vide Letter No.17644/HE dated 10.07.2017. Course Duration: JULY 2018 to JUNE 2019 Eligibility: a. A Consistently good academic career with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade at master’s level in the subject for general candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates. b. Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET or endowed with UGC teacher Fellowship or Study Leave from the Government of Odisha, DHE are eligible apply. The candidates who have qualified NET/SLET/ Teacher Fellowship are exempted from entrance test. c. M. Phil. is a full time course and as such as a candidate who is employed can not be admitted or allowed to continue in the program unless he/she has been duly relieved and produces proof to that effect. Admission: Admission into M. Phil. Programmes shall be based strictly on merit. The merit of a candidate shall be determined on the basis of Career-cum-Entrance Test and Viva-voce. The entrance test will be held on 04.07.2018 at 10.00 am followed by viva-voce from 12.00 noon. The venue of the Entrance Test is Rajendra College (Auto), Balangir. Last Date of Submission: The Application duly filled in along with required documents should reach the undersigned on or before 18.06.2018 by 5.00 pm through Regd/Speed Post/Courier Service. Phil. course will be made on the basis of entrance test, career assessment and interview/ viva-voce, i. e. 50% entrance + 40% Career assessment + 10% interview/ Viva-voce. b. Multiple choice questions will be set as per the syllabi of P. G courses of Rajendra College (Auto), Balangir. c. Students who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examinations & Net/SLET/GATE/ Teachers Fellowship holders are exempted from entrance test. However, they should appear in the interview / viva-voce to finalize the merit list. d. Candidates not appearing at the interview/ viva-voce will be left out from the merit list. e. Candidates who have already registered for Ph. D. under any university and and/or already acquired the Ph. D. degree and /or submitted their Ph. D. thesis shall not be considered for admission. f. College teachers availing themselves of study leave from Govt. of Odisha, Dept. of Higher Education or from Director, Higher Education will have to appear entrance test and viva-voce and will be treated as general candidates. h. No call letter shall be issued for Entrance Test/ Viva Voce. In case of non-availability of SC/ST candidates, the seats will be filled up by non teacher general candidates.

The University started functioning from 1 st January, 1967 with Prof. Parsuram Mishra as the first Vice-Chancellor. The University was inaugurated on 4 th January, 1967 by Hon’ble Chancellor A.N. Khosla. The University started functioning in 1967 in a rented private building at Ainthapali, Sambalpur from 1968-72. In the year 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. Sambalpur University is accredited with ‘A-Grade’ by UGC (NAAC) . The present territorial jurisdiction of the University covers 06 districts, namely, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh and Athmallik Sub-Division of Angul District of Odisha. The study analyzes different aspects of bibliometric study and found that Utkal University is the most productive institutions with 37.76% of total publications and growth rate of publication of the study is -105.63%. Physics and Astronomy is most preferred subject area having 20% of total publications. The most preferred journal for publications is Optics Communications and Indian Journal of Physics with 1.63% of contributions each and P.K. Mishra. Is the most productive author having 3.06% of total publications.
