These early years defined, as Herman Gray suggests in Watching Race, all subsequent representations of blackness on television. This defining moment, I argue, is one inextricably tethered to the South and the region’s anxiety ridden and complicated relationship with television. This anxiety was rooted in the progress and increasing visibility of the Civil Rights Movement, concern over growing white southern audiences in the wake of the FCC freeze (ended in 1952), and the fear and threat of a southern backlash against racially progressive programming.

Media Release from Goodale Productions For release December 5th through 12th, 2013 Dhonna and Bobby Goodale, 631-369-9581 Riverhead, NY New York City, NY “Christmas Alive!” House Tour Celebration Where else can you meet Don Duga, the creator/animator of “Frosty the Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and also glimpse the upside down Christmas tree used in the Lindt Chocolate commercial?! Most house tours with decorations have robotics, figurines and static lights. “Christmas Alive!” is a houseful of Elves and Santas in training, in all shapes and sizes—blending both traditional and modern Christmas delights. “Christmas Alive!” proceeds go directly to the shopping lists of needy families in the neighboring communities for clothes, food, candy, toys, etc. Four choices of times for the House Tour Celebration (Noon, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:30 PM) are scheduled on Saturday, December 14th, 2013, at the Goodale Estate in Flanders, NY. Tax-deductible donation is $50 per person, (children 12 and under $5). Touring guests will experience ten themed-trees, including Diva upside-down trees. Many of these original ideas were used in the TLC Christmas Special last year, when the Goodales were one of four finalists in “Four Houses: Deck the Halls.” Touring guests will leave with tons of ideas for their own homes—both inside and out. Kids of all ages may be most excited by Santa’s Workshop in action (this is the only area of the home where cell phones and cameras will be permitted to be used during the tour event). Mrs.

We appreciate your presence today in honor of the 913 hard working amazing American citizens of Jonestown. Today we are memorializing them and the dreams which they attempted to bring to fruition. The 281h year anniversary comes at a time in history that exemplifies the dissatisfaction of the American people. This last election proved that. News interviews with families around the globe stated that people are not happy, they are not happy with politics, their community, their lives or the prospect of their future. They stated before and after the elections that those issues that are near to their hearts; good education for their children, health care for everyone especially their seniors, economic security, good paying jobs, unity and peace are not coming to fruition. We now see psychologist, life coach's, self help classes and seminar invitation's on every channel in the news and on special daily news programs i.e. Good Morning America, etc. giving people positive affirmations, best books to buy to "ensure" their happiness and ways on how to improve your daily life. As it is today it was then in the 70's, before and after our loved ones went to Jonestown. They had a concern for the welfare of their children, seniors and themselves.

  • The Dick Van Dyke Show,” Whose Theme Song Any Baby Boomer Can Hum, and Eight Seasons As Crime-Solving Physician Dr
CAST BIOS DICK VAN DYKE (Dr. Jonathan Maxwell) -- With his starring role as Rob Petrie on the comedy series “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” whose theme song any baby boomer can hum, and eight seasons as crime-solving physician Dr. Mark Sloan on the mystery series “Diagnosis Murder,” Emmy Award® winner Dick Van Dyke is a beloved television icon. Oddly enough, before landing his career-defining role on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” it looked as if his network TV career had fizzled out without going anywhere. It took a breakthrough Tony Award®-winning role on Broadway in the long-running hit musical Bye Bye Birdie, to make television producers recognize his unique talent. Born in Missouri and raised in Danville, Illinois, the actor began his broadcast career in radio while serving in the Air Force. Back in civilian life in Danville, after a brief stint in advertising, he formed a pantomime act, “The Merry Mutes,” with another local talent, which landed them a daytime TV spot in Atlanta. In 1955 his Air Force mentor, Byron Paul, now a television director, brought him to New York, where CBS put him under contract. The network started him out as host of their morning show, where he worked with Barbara Walters, Walter Cronkite and Merv Griffin, then tried him out in a variety of genres including a children’s cartoon show, a talk show, a game show, and a series pilot. He also was a guest star on popular series of the day like “The Phil Silvers Show.” But nothing seemed to fit his distinctive performing style.
