9:45 to 10:15— German Wedding Traditions Enjoy learning about unique German wedding traditions such as the black wedding dress, log sawing, and the bride’s veil dance and discuss the display from the German American Heritage Center in Davenport. The avthentic 1660 10:15-11:30 – Manning Hausbarn-Heritage Park In 17th century Germany, it was common practice for a farmer’s house to be shared Geqma n Hausbaqo by families and their livestock. Go inside an authentic hausbarn built in 1660 that Trinity Church and the was moved to Manning and today is a unique museum dedicated to the German Historic Leet-Hassler Farmstead cultural heritage of the community. in Manning, Iowa
The park is also home to the Leet-Hassler Farmstead, a progressive early twentieth century Poland China purebred hog operation, the century-old Trinity Church and the site of the Carroll County Freedom Rock. You’ll get a glimpse of what life was like in another place and time by visiting the Hausbarn-Heritage Park.
11:45 to 1:00 – Luncheon Church ladies sandwich and salad luncheon with German wedding cake for dessert.
1:00 – Manning’s Arts and Antiquities Tour After lunch, it’s off to see the Carroll County Freedom Rock, veteran’s wall, historic homes, churches and school, a fascinating mural and more.
2:00 – Manning Main Street Shop and visit as you browse the unique shops along Main Street.
2:45 – Depart for home.
