Chloé Hurst (soprano) is an acve singer, pianist and teacher in Vancouver. Hailed by Opera Canada as having enviable clarity and precision, her talent has taken her around the world.

As a VAM alumna, Chloé started her formal training in music at the age of three. From this young age unl compleng high school, her main focus was piano. It was not unl the start of her undergrad as an opera performance major at UBC, when she started to seriously pursue her other passion, singing. Chloé then connued on to complete her Master of Music degree at the same instuon.

Chloé has had the privilege of performing across North America, Europe and China in , concerts and compeons. Past opera roles include Adina (Lelisir Damore), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Mimì (La Bohème) and many more. As a versale performer, Chloé has also sung various works with orchestra from Handels to Berliozs Les Nuits D été to Bernstein s West Side Story.

In early 2011, Chloé had her debut in China as a singer and pianist in concert. By the end of the year, she was a competor on the popular Chinese television talent show, Xing Guang Da Dao. Chloé won the first three rounds of the compeon and ended up being a finalist for the 2011 season. While singing takes up the bulk of her stage me, Chloé sll gets the chance to share her piano skills. She enjoys accompanying fellow singers in performance and loved being a lounge pianist during the 2010 Olympics at the Vancouver Internaonal Airport.

Alongside performing, Chloé has been teaching piano, theory and voice for several years, and joined the VAM faculty in 2008. While her main department has been music theory (in the preparatory and college divisions), she is excited to branch out into the

Read more... Richard Epp is a Vancouver based vocal coach, pianist and conductor. He is senior opera coach for the Opera Workshop at UBC and as well as teaching several classes in the School of Music. At UBC he has conducted Serse, Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, Hänsel und Gretel, Der Fledermaus, Die lusge Witwe, Brundibar, Cabaret, Weisse Rose and two world premieres among others. He worked at the Vancou- ver Opera as pianist for their Resident Arst Program for five years and has also been on the faculty at the Vancouver Academy of Music. He has appeared in concert for both Van- couver Early Music and Vancouver New Music. He has premiered numerous Canadian works and has appeared in recital on CBC on numerous occasions. He has toured North America as accompanist and chamber musician and is a frequent performer at the Van- couver Art Gallery Out for Lunch concert series. Mr. Epp was also conductor of The White Rock Community Orchestra for nine years.

Ray Kirkham began his long career in !965 as a young music student at UBC. In 1966 he joined the CBC Vancouver Chamber Orchestra and the Vancouver Symphony. He also be- gan the Vancouver Brass Quintet at this me and a few years later FanfaresN'Fugues He furthered his studies in NYC and Philadelphia from 1967 to 1970 with Robert Nagel Ray Crisara and Gilbert Johnson Ray has played with many fine musicians over his long 45 year career including great arsts like Doc Severenson,Ray Charles,YoYo Ma, Yehudi Menhuin Joan Sutherland Placido Domingo and many others. Ray had a wide teaching career as well with posts at UBC ,Vancouver Academy of Music, Douglas College,and Trinity West- ern University. He has been on over 400 recordings for the CBC and countless radio broad- casts over the years. He has worked for 8 music directors over this me beginning with Brish director Meredith Davies, and ending with Bramwell Tovey in 2010. Ray has credits on such movie scores as "The Changeling " The Alamo" ,Disney "Air Bud Series" EA sports world cup 2002" Ray was also on the 2008 grammy award winning CBC recording with James Ennis. Ray is now rered and is proud to have just celebrated his 70th birthday.
