William married Mary Taylor at Laxton in 1796. A son, Joseph, was baptised at Boughton in 1803, followed by John (1805), Francis (1807), Benjamin (1810), George (1813), Mary (1815) and Robert (1817). It also seems likely that there was a Henry (c1811; see Robert in 1841 census below) From the 1841 census, a son William (c1798) would appear likely (although like his father also apparently unregistered. He had married Ann Bean at Laxton in 1830. George had married Mary Ann Shepherd at Egmanton in 1840. William (presumably the father) was recorded in the 1839 Laxton tithe apportionment. Laxton 1841 William and Ann also had children Sarah (1834-35), Jane (1841), William (1844-45?), Henry (1848-48) and Elizabeth (1849). It seem likely that William senior died in 1845 (two Williams were buried at Laxton that year) and William junior in 1849, making daughter Elizabeth posthumous. Newcastle Street, Tuxford. 1851 Widow Ann married John Brooke at Laxton in 1856. I have not traced daughter Jane. Nottinghamshire Guardian - Thursday 17 July 1856 Laxton 1861 I have not discovered what happened to John (1805). Widow Mary was living with son George in 1851 (see below). Daughter Ann married in Sheffield in 1862. Sheffield Daily Telegraph - Tuesday 15 July 1862 Joseph (1803) Joseph married Mary Cowley at Bothamsall in 1822. As far as is known they had no children. This could be Joseph in 1848 Stamford Mercury - Friday 14 April 1848 By 1851, he was a farm bailiff at Misterton. Living with them was niece Ann, daughter of Joseph’s brother Benjamin (see below). Cornley Farm, Misterton. 1851 Cornley Farm, Misterton. 1861 Joseph died in 1865 (“of Cornley (Misterton)”). Mary went into service, accompanied by niece Jane Cowley. Littleborough, Notts. 1871 By 1881, Jane had married and Mary was living with them. Pinfold Lane, Misterton, 1881 Mary died in 1889 (‘of Walkeringham’) Benjamin (1810) Benjamin married Elizabeth Foster at Kneesall in May 1833 (‘both of Kersall’). Harry (1877) St John, Walham Green, London. (#243) Electoral Roll. 1915 Tamworth Herald - Saturday 29 October 1921 By 1939, Alice was a patient at Brookwood Hospital in Surrey. This was a mental hospital Meanwhile, Harry was living with Lillian F Mortley, who was using the name Kipling. Wimbledon. 1939 Alice died in Wallingford, Berkshire district in the fourth quarter of 1947. Harry immediately married Lillian (“Kipling or Mortley”). He died in Lewes, Sussex district in 1967. Lilian died in 1987. Son John Foster Kipling married Kathleen Amato in 1938. North Ruislip. 1939. He died in 1969. George (1813) Stamford Mercury - Friday 14 January 1848 Wife Mary Ann died in 1850. Laxton 1851. George married Ann Bagshaw at Laxton in 1854 Nottinghamshire Guardian - Thursday 26 January 1854 They had two more daughters, Fanny and Harriet. Nottinghamshire Guardian - Thursday 21 June 1860 Ann died in January 1861, leaving George widowed for a second time. Nottinghamshire Guardian - Thursday 07 February 1861 Laxton 1861. Laxton 1871. By 1881, George had moved to live with his married daughter, Harriet. Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield. 1881 George died in 1882. George (1840) George married in 1864. Lincolnshire Chronicle - Friday 27 May 1864 Shortly thereafter, George and Martha moved to Sheffield, where son Henry was born in 1866. Sheffield Independent - Tuesday 05 September 1876 Sheffield Independent - Thursday 08 May 1879 He was similarly fined in September 1879 and May 1880 and also in November 1884 (when living at 192 Eyre Street), July 1885 and April 1886. 1881. Newton Square, Sheffield Martha died in 1887. Sheffield 1891 George later lived with son Henry. See below. Henry (1866) Henry (Harry) married Frances Thacker in 1885. Son Harry was born in 1889. 1891. Sheffield 1901. Sheffield George died in 1913. Henry died in 1941 in Sheffield. Son Frederick volunteered in August 1914. His service did not last long, as he was court-martialled for disobeying orders three months later. He married Alice Fearn in 1916. Sheffield 1939. Frederick died in 1940. Son Harry married Bertha Tipper in 1930. He died in 1934. I’ve been able to trace so Willie any further. George (1890) George married Eleanor Parkin in 1908. A son, George Robert, was born the following year. (#312) George probably died in 1932, registered in Wortley district. Son George Robert died in 1982, registered in Sheffield district. George (1872) George married in 1895. 1901. Sheffield (#314) 1939. Hodgson St, Sheffield George died in 1940. Son William was in trouble in 1913 Sheffield Evening Telegraph - Tuesday 08 July 1913 He was killed less than two year later, serving as a lance corporal at Ypres (see ‘Kipling Great War Deaths 1914-15’ http://kipling.one-name.net//WW1%20Kipling%201914.pdf ) Son Sydney married Ada Baxter in 1937 1939 Clarence Street, Sheffield. Sydney died in 1998. William (1873) William married Lily Wild in 1893. Sheffield Parish Church Son Harry died in 1895. St Simon, Sheffield Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield. 1901 Sheffield Parish Church In August 1905, son George was admitted to Springfield Board/Council School (Senior Boys). He left in 1909 when the family moved. A fourth son, Ernest, had been born in 1907. Sheffield Parish Church. He died the following year aged 16 months. (#343) Son George was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme and his name is inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial. East Bank Road, Sheffield. 1939 John William died in 1969. A DNA sample has been provided by a descendant of John William, showing the Notts Kiplings to be descended from the Kipling of Baldersdale. Henry (1844) Darlton, Notts. 1861 Henry married Hannah Booth in 1867. Worksop. 1871 Henry died in 1873. Widow Hannah seems later to have married an Edward Pritchard, although I cannot trace the date. Worksop 1881 George (1869) George married Emily Woodger in Rotherham district in 1892. Worksop 1901 (#338) George died in 1916 and son Reginald died in 1936, both in Rotherham district. In 1911, daughter Elsie was living with her Aunt Florrie (Woodger) who had married Willie Richardson in 1907. (#339) Elsie married George Rhodes in 1918. Henry (1870) Henry (Harry) married Annie Walton in 1893. Worksop. 1901 (#234) Harry died in 1929. Son John Charles married in 1924. He died in 1927. Son Harry died in 1972. Robert (1817) Robert married Elizabeth Otter at Mattersey in 1836. Son George was baptised at Babworth in 1839. Sutton 1841 Sons Henry and William followed in 1841 and 1843 (bpt at Sutton cum Lound) Fulforth Beck, West Retford. 1851 Sutton Road End. 1861 Swiss Cottages, West Retford 1871 Swiss Cottages, West Retford 1881 Robert died in 1887 and brother Henry in 1893.     Landowner Declaration Register This is maintained under Section 31A of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 15B(1) of the Commons Act 2006. It comprises: Landowner deposit under S.15A(1) of the Commons Act 2006 By depositing a statement, landowners can prevent their land being registered as a Town or Village Green, provided they make the deposit before there has been 20 years recreational use of the land as of right. A new statement must be deposited within 20 years. Landowner deposit under S.31(6) of the Highways Act 1980 Highway statements and highway declarations allow landowners to prevent their land being recorded as a highway on the definitive map on the basis of presumed dedication (usually 20 years uninterrupted use). Worksop Priory Worksop is well worth a visit as it has a highly accessible town centre with the Priory, Memorial Gardens, the Chesterfield Canal and the old streets of the Town Centre. Like a lot of small towns, if you look, there is still a lot of charm. Park next to the Priory and follow the Worksop Heritage Trail via Priorswell Road, Potter Street, Westgate, Lead Hill and the castle mound, Newcastle Avenue and Bridge Street. Sit in the Memorial Gardens for a while, before taking a stroll along the canal. Visit Mr Straw’s House(National Trust) BUT you must have pre-booked as so many people want to see it. Welbeck Abbey gates, Sparken Hill to the south of the town. The bridge over the canal with its ‘luxury duckhouse’, Priorswell Road . 2. Worksop Manor Lodge Dating from about 1590, the Lodge is a Grade 1 listed building. Five floors have survived – there were probably another two floors as well so would have been a very tall building for its time.

The preparation of the Bassetlaw Core Strategy & Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) began with the publication of the Issues and Options paper and Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for a six-week consultation period in September 2009. A second formal six-week consultation period on the Preferred Options and Sustainability Appraisal commenced in May 2010. Finally, the Publication Core Strategy & Development Management Policies DPD, Publication Proposals Map, Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulation Assessment were released for public consideration for six weeks in November 2010. As well as the formal consultation periods, the District Council has consulted with a range of bodies and individuals during the entire period of the DPD’s development, and used a variety of methods in line with the Statement of Community Involvement, to secure feedback from as wide ranging a group as possible. Following the Issues & Options and Preferred Options consultation stages, reports were produced that set out: • which bodies were invited to make representations; • how they were invited to do this; • a summary of the main issues raised; and • how they were taken into account.
