House Transportation & Infrastructure Welcome Letter

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Harvard 2020! Our names are Amy Danoff, Kyle Sanok, and Victoriah Vernah—we will be chairing the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. We are so excited to see all of you in February at the conference, where you will be discussing current issues, making friends, exploring , and hopefully furthering your passion for government.

The issues you will be discussing in committee sessions will be both important domestically and have implications on an international level as well. For example, while the sustainable transportation briefing depicts an issue important on a domestic level, many of the innovations that cities and transportation systems might implement apply globally as well. Either way, the decisions you make as representatives on transportation and infrastructure policy will have definite effects on the future of our economy as well as the future of our environment, businesses, and society. As delegates, it is your responsibility to research ways to solve these important issues in an innovative, effective, and feasible manner, taking all important factors and perspectives into consideration.

And now a little bit about ourselves: Kyle is a senior living in Lowell House. This is his fourth and final time staffing the Harvard Model Congress Boston conference. He studies applied mathematics with a focus in data science, and outside of classes he enjoys singing in his a capella group, The Harvard Lowkeys, and giving tours for the university. Further, he enjoys exercise as well as the Boston local food scene. As his final year at Harvard, he cannot wait to spend this last February learning from each one of you.

Amy is a senior studying Computer Science with a Secondary (that’s our fancy word for minor!) in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. This will be her 11th and final Harvard Model Congress conference, including participating in HMC Boston twice as a delegate in high school and staffing conferences in Boston, , , and . Outside of Model Congress, Amy leads backpacking trips, gives tours, and works for the literary magazine on campus. She is so excited to meet all of you in February!

Victoriah is a sophomore studying Economics with a secondary in English. She’s excited to be a junior staffer in House Transportation and Infrastructure: HMC Boston will be her first conference she’s staffed. She can’t wait to meet all T&I delegates and have an exciting weekend learning about the pressing issues facing the committee.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the conference, briefings, or anything else. We are extremely excited to be working with all of you! We look forward to meeting you all,

Amy Danoff, Kyle Sanok, and Victoriah Vernah
