Sear shot a five-under par 209, his lowest 54-hole total of the year. He finished one-over with a 72 on the final Spring 2018 round. Sear’s performance was his fifth top-10 finish of the season. Head Coach: Randy Mazey This Week in Baseball: This week, WVU travels to Pitt for a midweek matchup before a three-game home series against Kansas State … the week begins with the on Tuesday, April 17, at 6 p.m. ET, in Pittsburgh … the matchup comes six days after WVU beat the Panthers at home, 12-1 … from April 20-22, hosts Kansas State at Monongalia County Ballpark, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20 … the series continues on Saturday at 4 p.m. before Sunday’s finale at 1 p.m. … tickets for all three home games are available at WVUGAME.com, by calling 1-800- WVU GAME, at the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the WVU Coliseum or on game day at Monongalia County Ballpark … Friday’s promotions include Friday Night Happy Hour, with half-off beverages from 5:30-6:30, and all fans can play Baseball Bingo … Saturday is a True Blue game and Family Day, where fans can purchase four tickets and receive a $10 concession voucher for just $25 … an exclusive WVU baseball t-shirt will be given away to the first 500 fans at Saturday’s game, while 3,000 blue shakers also will be given away … Saturday also is Social Media Day, where fans will have a chance to participate in promotions throughout the game via social media ... finally, Sunday is the second trading card giveaway of the season, along with Kids Day and postgame autographs and running the bases, with a new Kids Zone Presented by WVU Medicine Children’s and Mr. Twister’s Balloon Art and Face Painting.

Last Week in Baseball: West Virginia went 3-2 last week, with midweek wins over Penn State at PNC Park and at home vs. Pitt before a 1-2 series vs. Oklahoma State … WVU opened the week with a 3-2, 10-inning victory over Penn State at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, as Chase Illig drove in the game-winner with a 10th-inning single after PSU tied the game in the ninth … West Virginia scored 12 runs on 15 hits and added 14 strikeouts on the mound in Wednesday’s 12-1 win over Pitt … WVU pitchers, led by Isaiah Kearns, combined to hold the Panthers to one run on four hits, as Kearns struck out a career-best eight in 5.0 innings to earn the win … Jimmy Galusky and Brandon White had a career-high four hits each, while Darius Hill had a career-best five RBIs … the Mountaineers’ four-game win streak was snapped with a 7-4 loss to Oklahoma State in the series opener on April 13, as OSU scored three in the third and three unearned runs in the fourth, both via three-run home runs … Kyle Gray had a career-high four hits with a home run … WVU evened the series the next day with a 10-7 win, thanks to a six-run first inning and a two-run home run by Marques Inman in the eighth … the Mountaineers batted around in the first to take a 6-1 lead and OSU cut WVU’s lead to one, at 8-7, before Inman’s homer … Tyler Doanes drove in three runs on two hits, for his first career RBIs and first multi-hit and multi-RBI game of his career … Kade Strowd pitched 5.0 innings and struck out 10 batters, the second time this season he has notched double-digit strikeouts, while earning the win, and Alek Manoah notched his first save of the year … Oklahoma State won Sunday’s finale, 6-4, as OSU rallied with three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to stay tied atop the Big 12 standings … Inman had three hits in the loss, his third consecutive multi-hit game.

Notes: West Virginia (16-17, 2-7 Big 12) has won five of its last seven games and plays all but three games in April at home … West Virginia plays Pitt for the second time in six days after improving to 107-88 in the all-time series with a 12-1 win last week … WVU has won four in a row and nine of the last 12 in the Backyard Brawl … the Mountaineers improved to 2-0 at PNC Park with a 3-2 win over Penn State and have played at the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates in back-to-back seasons … Saturday’s crowd of 2,558 is the ninth-largest home crowd in team history and the 25th time the Mountaineers have drawn more than 2,500 fans … Kyle Gray hit his team-high-tying sixth homer of the season and ninth of his career on Friday … Marques Inman had a career-best four RBIs and hit his fifth home run of the year and eighth of his career on Saturday … Last week, Gray extended his hit streak to a team-leading 10 consecutive games, while Darius Hill’s hit streak is at nine consecutive games … Braden Zarbnisky extended his reached-base streak to 10 consecutive games, while Gray has reached base safely in 11 games in a row.

This Week in Golf: The Mountaineers are off until the 2018 Big 12 Championship, fromApril 23-25.

Last Week in Golf: The West Virginia golf team finished runner-up at the 42nd Annual Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State at the Penn State Blue Golf Course in State College, Pennsylvania, on Saturday and Sunday … WVU shot 280-287-292=859 to finish seven-over par, second to the host No. 42 Nittany Lions … the Mountaineers’ third-round score of 292 tied for the second-best round of the day … four Mountaineers finished in the top 20 of the standings … junior Max Sear paced the team with a runner-up finish, shooting 67-70-72=209 to finish four-under par and three strokes back from medalist Cole Miller ofenn P State … sophomore Etienne Papineau tied for eighth place at one over with a 214 … freshmen Matthew Sharpstene and Mark Goetz posted matching scores of 218 for five over, tying for 18th place.

Notes: In just their third season of varsity competition, WVU has posted a pair of wins and a trio of runner-up finishes on the season … the team earned titles at the Janney VCU Shootout and the Martin Downs Collegiate, and finished as the runner-up at The Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational, the Furman Intercollegiate and the Rutherford Intercollegiate … Sear’s individual runner-up finish was his sixth top-20 finish of the season … five of those finishes came inside the top 10 … his 54-hole total of 209 is a season-low for Sear and ties the team’s season low as well … Sear leads WVU with a 72.35 scoring average for 0.65 vs. par … Papineau’s eighth- place finish was his fourth top-20 finish and third top-10 finish in tournament play this season … he ranks second on the squad with a 73.06 scoring average.

This Week in Tennis: The Mountaineers return to the Mountain State this weekend to conclude their regular season with a pair of matchups against No. 13 Texas Tech on Friday, and TCU on Sunday … Friday’s match is slated to begin at 5 p.m. ET, while first serve from Sunday’s contest will be at 11 a.m. … WVU will honor two seniors, Lyn Yuen Choo and Yvon Martinez, who have made a tremendous impact on the WVU Tennis program.

Last Week in Tennis: West Virginia (7-11, 1-6 Big 12) dropped a pair of matches against ranked conference opponents, falling to No. 25 Baylor, 4-0, on Friday, and No. 5 Texas, 4-0, on Sunday … on Friday, the Mountaineers dropped the doubles point to the Lady Bears ... BU also won the first three singles matches to win the contest … after taking the doubles point, No. 5 Texas powered past WVU in singles play to win the match, 4-0, on Sunday.

Notes: Choo and freshman Giovanna Caputo lead the Mountaineers in singles play with eight wins apiece … the doubles pair of Choo and Paula Goetz pace the Mountaineers with nine wins in doubles action.

This Week in Track and Field: WVU travels to Charlottesville, Virginia, to compete in the Virginia Challenge, from April 20-21.

Last Week in Track and Field: The Mountaineers competed in Bucknell University’s Bison Outdoor Classic, from April 14-15, earning six top-10 finishes … WVU’s 4x800 relay team of redshirt senior Amy Cashin, redshirt sophomore Candace Jones and redshirt freshmen Antigone Archer and Abby Colbert earned a victory in 9:19.98 on Sunday … Archer also finished second in the women’s 3,000 meters with a time of 10:17.48 … senior pole vaulter Sara Finfrock registered an outdoor personal-best mark of 4.02 meters (13 feet, 2.25 inches), placing fourth in the event, while freshman Ellie Gardner (3.85 meters – 12 feet, 7.50 inches) finished fifth … on Saturday, junior Faith Penny matched her outdoor career-best mark of 1.66 meters (5 feet, 5.25 inches) in the women’s high jump en route to a sixth-place finish … redshirt freshman Kyrielle illiamsW tied for 10th in the event.

Notes: Finfrock’s mark in the women’s pole vault was an outdoor personal best and ranks No. 3 in program history … WVU is set to compete at Virginia in back-to-back weekends; the team returns to Charlottesville on Saturday, April 28, for the Virginia Grand Prix … this weekend marks the sixth consecutive season in which the Mountaineers will compete at the Virginia Challenge, dating back to the 2012-13 campaign … at last year’s event, redshirt junior Madelin Gardner broke the outdoor school record in the pole vault, earning a mark of 4.13 meters (13 feet, 6.5 inches) while tying for the event victory … junior Danique Bryan also had a strong meet, winning the long jump with a mark of 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6.25 inches), as well as earning a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a then-career-best jump of 12.99 meters (42 feet, 7.5 inches) … the Virginia Challenge is the second stop in the team’s five consecutive weeks of action.

Head Coach: Jimmy King This Week in Rowing: The Mountaineers will travel to Fairfax Station, Virginia, on Sunday, April 22, to compete at the second annu- al George Mason Invitational … the George Mason Invite is a unique race, as it pits three conferences against each other as opposed to the normal school vs. school race style … the Big 12, Atlantic 10 and Colonial will each have teams competing in the contest … WVU will compete against Big 12 foes Kansas and Old Dominion in the morning session, before taking on the other conferences in the afternoon.

Notes: In last year’s first-annual George Mason Invite, the Big 12 claimed wins in eight of the nine final races to dominate the inau- gural race … the Big 12 finished in first with 52 points, while theAtlantic 10 placed second with 30 points and the Colonial finished third with 26 points.
