REPORT NO. 18: EFFECTS AND SERVICES AND INTERVENTIONS FOR VICTIMS OF FLOODING DUE TO LPA / TROPICAL DEPRESSION ‘’AGATON” As of January 18, 2014 / 6:00 P.M.

I. PAGASA WEATHER BULLETIN NO. 6 TROPICAL DEPRESSION “AGATON” Issued at 5:00pm/ January 18, 2013

 Tropical Depression “Agaton” has move Southeastward while maintaining its strength.

 At 4:00 pm today, the center was estimated based on all available data at 185 km East of , del Sur or at 305 Southeast of with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center, and forecasted to remain Almost stationary.

 .It is expected to be at 185 km East of Hinatuan, tomorrow afternoon and 150 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by Monday afternoon. By. Tuesday afternoon, it is expected to be at 100 km Southeast of .

 Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1, is now hoisted over the following areas:

Region Provinces XI and Compostela Valley including Island, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Province, del Norte and .

II. Affected Areas and Families:

 A total of 41,366 families composed of 197,091 persons coming from the 399 barangays, 75 municipalities, 7 cities in the 12 provinces of Regions CARAGA, X and XI were affected. (Please refer to Annex A for details).

III. Evacuation Centers:

 Four hundred forty-six (446) evacuation centers were opened at the height of the relief operations and provided temporary shelter to 31,954 families or 150,409 persons.

 To date, 295 evacuation centers are still open and continuously providing temporary shelter to 23,356 family-evacuees or 111,689 individuals while 8,154 families or 41,338 individuals are still staying with relatives and friends’ houses.

 A total of 613 houses were damaged with 325 totally destroyed and 288 partially damaged, in Regions X, CARAGA and XI, with the following breakdown:

IV. Cost of Assistance:

 Php19.86 million worth of relief goods was provided to the affected families from the combined resources of DSWD (Php7,598,608.48) and LGUs (P11,326,417.60), to wit: . V. Situational Report:

Region CARAGA

 The region is currently experiencing rainy and windy weather.

 Province of :

1. In imminent danger and heightened alert declared by the local officials due to rains brought by tropical depression ”Agaton”. 2. A forced evacuation is imposed on all high risk area susceptible to landslides, flooding and storm surges. 3. Electrification already resumed. 4. Experiencing light rains and significant wind blows

 Surigao del Sur: 1. a mass evacuation was conducted to the residents living along coastlines and island barangays prioritizing the vulnerable groups to include women, PWD’s elderly and children 2. City and its nearby municipalities are experiencing occasional light rainshowers and gusty winds. 3. The Search and Emergency Response is on standby at the Provincial DRRM operation center ani in 24-hour monitoring

 The of Surigao del Norte has cancelled all sea travels in all ports including the Province of Dinagat Islands.

 DSWD-CARAGA continuously repack a family food packs at DPWH Area Equipment Service Office located at Tiniwisan, City.

 The Field Office creates a skeletal team, a 24-hour staff on-duty to monitor the situation and continuously coordinating with P/C//M DRRMC in the areas affected.

Region X:

 Having intermittent rainshowers  All SWAD teams were alerted to slosely monitor and coordinate with their respective LGUs..

Region XI:

 Having cloudy skies but no rains.  All SWAD teams were alerted to slosely monitor and coordinate with their respective LGUs..

VI. Standby Funds and Stockpile:

Prepositioned P33.50 million worth of emergency relief resources consisting of standby funds (P2.64million), 24,456 family food packs (P6.25 million) and other food and NFIs (P24.6 million) readily available for augmentation.

VII. Other Support Services and Interventions:

 Processing the release of additional standby funds amounting to P61.32 million for DSWD-CARAGA (P5,725,000.00) and DSWD- XI (P55.60 million) for purchase of relief goods and other incidental expenses for the victims of flooding due to the effects of the Low Pressure Area in the regions.
