Call for Papers: Teorema The Spanish philosophical journal Teorema, a landmark in the development of contemporary philosophical thought in Spain, is reassuming its publication, interrupted during the last ten years. A major aim of Teorema is to provide a forum for original academic papers in the of language, philosophical , , philosophy and history of science, theory of knowledge and other related subjects. Teorema is scheduled to appear three times a year and it will publish arti- cles, discussion notes, critical notices and book reviews both in Spanish and English. The Editors strongly encourage the submission of papers, which will be refereed by experts in the relevant fields. The first issue of the journal in this new period—due to appear in October 1996—will contain just papers on Descartes and the Philosophy of Mind. The deadline for submissions (only for papers on Descartes and the philosophy of mind) is February the 1st 1996. Papers on other subjects are welcome at any time. University of California, Berkeley Program in Logic and Methodology of Science In addition to Ph.D. programs in Mathematics and Philosophy, the University of California at Berkeley offers a Ph.D. program in Logic and Methodology of Science. Announcement and Call for Papers Tilburg University Tilburg University, Center for Economic Research, The Netherlands, January 9-11, 1997. International and interdisciplinary conference on: Simplicity in relation to probability theory, statistical modelling, and the philosophy and the history of science, in particular econometrics. The conference will explore the importance of "simplicity" in its different meanings for scientific inference in general. More specifically, the use of sim- plicity in statistics will be discussed as well as its practical role in (economet- ric) modelling. Contributions from the philosophy of science, statistics and econometrics are solicited. The conference will include invited papers by Jorma Rissanen, Malcolm Forster and Arnold Zellner, as well as contributed papers. Those wishing to contribute should submit a draft paper to both organizers, Announcements 935 including a (max.) 100 word abstract, before June 30, 1996. Proceedings of the conference will be published shortly after the conference. A limited bud- get for the covering of travel and other expenses will be available.
