Reforma Athletic Club Se Complace En Recibir El Campeonato Nacional Masters Y a Todos Nuestros Amigos Que Comparten El Gusto Por El Deporte Y En Especial El Tenis EDITORIAL Hace casi dos años nació el proyecto de poner en tus manos la revista TENIS MUNDO. Hubo en aquellos días intercambio de ideas con amigos y personas involucradas en los medios, tanto del tenis como del periodismo. La mayoría coincidía en que no eran los mejores tiempos para hacer una revista especializada con argumentos como que el tenis no pasaba por su mejor momento, que hoy nadie apuesta por este deporte, que no hay patrocinadores interesados y muchos más. Cada uno tenía un sustento, con toda probabilidad, E irrefutable, pero los sueños no aguardan, ganó la terquedad, porque creemos que quienes buscan llegar a la meta no deben esperar. Los emprendedores no pueden dormir el sueño de los justos. Hace tres meses concebimos el número cero de nuestra revista. Fue el intento inicial para presentarnos ante la comunidad tenística. Hemos recibido cualquier cantidad de críticas, pero más halagos. De las críticas, cuando son constructivas, sacamos la mejor parte para mejorar, de las que no lo son, simplemente las eludimos. De los halagos estaremos eternamente agradecidos, pero no nos ufanamos, los guardamos en un baúl para recordarlos en su momento. No obstante, hoy te entregamos el número uno y con noticias muy esperanzadoras, algunos han creído en nuestro trabajo e hicieron una primera apuesta, pero no es todo, tenemos ya la reserva de derechos ante el Instituto Nacional del Derecho de Autor y en el momento de cerrar este número estábamos a días de contar oficialmente con el sitio web de TENIS MUNDO. Además tenemos un nutrido de colaboradores tanto en México como en el extranjero y seguimos creciendo. Estamos conscientes del compromiso que tenemos con la comunidad tenística mexicana y seguiremos fortaleciendo la difusión de nuestro amado deporte. ¡Mil gracias a todos los que hacen este sueño posible! AMIGOS TENISTAS The Reforma Athletic Club, desde su fundación en 1894, ha formado parte de la historia del tenis en nuestro país, no solamente por los 16 socios del club que han representado a México en Copa Davis y muchos mas en torneos nacionales e internacionales, sino por ser sede de innumerables torneos de gran prestigio y Copas Davis que han sido pilar del tenis en México. Como reconoci- miento al alto nivel de organización, la calidad de la sede y un gran esfuerzo para mejorar cada año los servicios, atención a participantes y eventos sociales, se logró subir de grado, primero a Gra- do 3 en 2007, después a Grado 2 en 2011 para que finalmente se le concediera el mas alto grado a nivel mundial, el Grado A en 2016. “Este año –dice el ingeniero Vega Bloch- la participación de extranjeros se ha triplicado y quizá hasta cuadruplicado. El año pasado al cierre de inscripciones para los competi- dores ITF hablamos de 133 inscritos y este año cerramos con 169 inscripciones. Entre los extranjeros que ya confirmaron su asistencia, de casi una decena de países, hay varios top 10, top 20 y top 30, eso indica que debemos esperar una extraordinaria participación y ca- lidad, incluidos algunos de los mejores del mundo”. El Campeonato Nacional Masters Totalplay presentado por Riunite contempla las catego- rías ITF, las FMT -Mastertenis (o clases B y C) y la Abierta. La primera abarca de 35 a 80 años (de cinco años en cinco años) para las moda- lidades de singles, dobles y mixtos, mientras que para la rama femenil es de 35 a 75 años, también en singles, dobles y mixtos. 12 MUNDO TENIS En las categorías FMT - Mastertenis se contem- pla la B varonil, para 35, 45 y 55 años y mayores, mientras que la B y C femenil serán para jugado- ras de 30 años y mayores. Este año se integra la nueva categoría de 60 Femenil y en los mixtos se abren 2 categorías, la A y B. En total en este torneo se juegan 54 categorías diferentes, lo que significa un reto en logística para árbitros, directivos y personal del torneo. La categoría abierta será para jugadores mayores de 14 años en su rama varonil y femenil.
