Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation Holds One-day Cultural Interchange Camp

On November 17th to 18th, Pyeongtaek Internation- al Exchange Foundation has held One-day Cultural Interchange Camp for over 200 children and parents. For activities, they planned various experiences such as making, African traditional dancing, world costume wearing, German culture learning, world architecture model making, and more. Moreover, the performance ceremony was held by a team of Mongolian and African. One of the participants said, "It was my pleasure to attend this camp with my kids and I look forward to attending another programs like this in the future. Thank you so much for sharing this event for kids and us." A foreign participant also said, "I had so much fun trying all kinds of activities with children. This was great opportunity to get along with children." Eunhee Myeong, head of Pyeongtaek City Foundation, said "We won't stop planning such programs for children and their family in Pyeongtaek and we will do our best to promote such events that everyone can participate and enjoy as a family." Korean Traditional Culture EAGLE'S Experience and Field Trip CLUB for USFK members

The Korean Traditional Culture Experience and Field Trip Program sponsored by Eagle's Club (President Baek Jeong- ki) successfully took place on November 11th. Soldiers from Osan base who are 51FS Air Force and their family members have participated in the program. They visited the temple 'Chiljangsa', Cheonghakdae Mu- seum and Namsadang Baudugi performance. The temple Chiljangsa was found by Jajang Yulsa during the reign of Queen Seonduk, then was developed by Hye- soguksa during the reign of King Hyeonjong. This is the place where the annals of Korean dynasty was located to avoid from Japanese invasion. Soldiers and family members stopped by the Cheonghwa Museum & Cafe next to Guemkwang Lake and looked around the sculptures dis- played on the lawn of of sculpture park. They also enjoyed watching the performance of Anseong Namsadang Baudugi. Soldiers and family members spent about two hours to watch the performance and had an op- portunity to take photos with the team members. President Baek Jeongki said, "We will gradually expand the opportunities for USFK Soldiers to experience the taste and tradition of Korean by activating interaction. It is great to see the soldiers and family members enjoy learning Korean traditional culture and history." Eagle's Club was created as an individual organization since September in 2008 in order to have mutual inter- change with the USFK. In fact, the organization was started as a golf club and it has developed into a group of diverse professionals. Mem- bers of Eagle's Club have seven times of meeting in a year and they have been planning the field trip for USFK Soldiers twice a year. ‘The MotiMahal’, one of Pyeongtaek’s best Indian restau- rants, is located next to the main gate of USAG Humphreys. Motimahal means ‘a pearl palace’ in Hindu and this restau- rant is an authentic restaurant of Northern India. Opened in 2007, local chefs offer a variety of Curry and Tandoori dishes with natural spices.

Representative Dishes of India Curry and Tandoori Chicken are considered as the repre- sentative dishes of India. Curry is a mixture of spices such as turmeric, which is known as preventing cancer and dementia and protecting stomach and intestines. Naan is a loaf of wheat bread which is a staple food of India such as Jjapati and Loti. Tandoori chicken is a dish that cooks in a cylindri- cal oven made of clay after marinating overnight with Indian spices. It is a traditional dish of Punjab area and everyone en- joy eating this dish throughout the entire area of India.

Indian Restaurant for Koreans Most of the Indian restaurants are packed in front of Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Base. Motimahal has been devel- oping recipes for non-Indian, so people who are reluctant to strong flavor of Indian food can also feel free to try and eat.

The 3rd Cheonan World Christmas Festival will be held in Cheonan Square Plaza from November 17, 2018 to January 13, 2019 for 58 days, featuring fantastic lighting and visual arts embroidered in the center of Cheonan. The World Christmas Festival, which is popular for visitors who visit the city of Cheonan during winter time, is expanded into Cheonan Station Square including Cheongan Station Market, Underground Market, Myeongdong Street, and Heungheung Baljeonso Mall. Following the opening ceremony of Christmas Festival, Christmas Eve special performances, audition program, daily concert and more will be held as well. The venues of the festival will be located at Cheonan Square Plaza, Cheonan Station, Underground Market, Myeongdong Street, and Heungheung Baljeonso Mall. The main theme zone which has a large Christmas tree and three medium trees while playing a brilliant video show of various media bars with a RGB ball expresses a spirit and faith of Jesus will be the big- gest attraction of this festival.
