The maker behind some of Britain’s best loved chocolate brands is on the hunt for four new ‘chocolate testers.’

Mondelez International which produces brands including Cadbury, Oreo and Green and Blacks is offering chocoholics the chance of a dream job – tasting and testing new products before they hit shop shelves in over 150 countries.

The successful candidates will work as part of a 12-strong team tasting chocolate and cocoa drinks, helping Mondelez perfect their recipes for chocolate lovers.

The taster will need to be able to work in a team to differentiate the many subtle differences between our different chocolates. Communicating the subtleties in flavour, texture and melt in the mouth experience across our unique chocolate brands is vital. Chocolate tasters will work up to eight hours to avoid ‘palate fatigue’ and will be based in Wokingham near Reading, Berkshire UK at Mondelez International’s Global Research Centre.

Last year a similar testing job at Mondelez International became one of the most viewed adverts on LinkedIn, with 6,000 people applying from as far afield as Australia and the USA.

One of those jobs went to Tracy Streams, from Charvil in Reading, who passed several choco-challenges which included being able to detect subtle differences in taste between two pieces of chocolate

Tracy, Chocolate Panellist at the Wokingham site, who recently taste tested Green and Black’s new Milk Chocolate Pralines said: “I really love my job, it suits my lifestyle and all my friends are naturally quite envious! I really look forward to the sessions, there is a lot more to being a Chocolate Taster than you might think, we have to identify really slight differences in smell, texture and even how the chocolate feels in your mouth.

“My top tips for people keen to apply for this extraordinary role are:

• 1.Be passionate about the world of chocolate. • 2.Being a foodie, having a love of food and an openness to many flavours is a bonus. • 3.You have to be surprisingly disciplined – we can’t eat for a few hours before each session.”

Afsha Chugtai, Senior Group Leader at the Wokingham site, who looks after the chocolate taste testers at Mondelez International said: “People like Tracy are vital to our business as they help us develop the best possible product for chocolate lovers.

“We can’t wait to see who makes the cut this year and joins our team who invent, test and make some of the best-known brands around the world.”

Don’t be chocolate! Apply for this dream job here. The closing date for applications is 8th March.
