COMMUNITY ahwah is a suburban town in Northern Bergen County, New Jersey (population 25,890), approximately 25 miles from metropolitan . NJ.com named Mahwah the “Safest Place to Live” in NJ in its 2014

Mahwah is near the Ramapo Mountains and Ramapo River and is bordered by the towns of Upper Saddle River, Ramsey, Allendale, Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes in New Jersey and Ramapo and Suffern in New York. The Ramapough Mountain Indians were the original inhabitants of Mahwah and now number approximately 5,000 people living around the Ramapo Mountains of northern New Jersey and southern New York. The name Mahwah is derived from the Lenni Lenape mawewi, which means, “a place where people and paths meet.” Mahwah High School was ranked 32 out of 422 New Jersey charter and public high schools and 594 nationally out of 21,000 eligible charter and public high schools in 50 states with a designation of Silver. Mahwah High School improved its rank from 900 in 2014 to 594 in 2016 nationally.

SCHOOL: Mahwah High School is a four-year high school Post Graduation Plans (grades 9-12). Three Elementary schools, an intermediate school and one middle school feed directly into the 2016 2015 2014 district’s only high school. Our current student enrollment Total Graduates 227 252 286 is 930. Post-Secondary 94.2% 94.1% 95.2% FACULTY: The professional staff is comprised of 127 members which includes counselors, librarian/media 4- Yr. Colleges 77.9% 83.8% 85.7% specialists and special educators. Four full-time counselors 2 - Yr.
